Karl Rove To Sarah Palin: Get A "Thicker Skin"
Real Clear Politics ^

Posted on 08/25/2011 9:01:23 AM PDT by indianrightwinger

Karl Rove responds to controversy over his speculation if Fmr. Gov. Sarah Palin will indeed enter the GOP field. Rove said chances are she will jump in, but was not definitive in his observation.

"I'm mystified," Rove said about reaction to his speculation. "Look, she is all upset about this saying how I am trying to sabatouge her in some way. How do I speculate on her future."

"Look, if she doesn't want to be speculated about a potential presidential candidate there is an easy way to end the speculation. Simply say 'I'm not running.' Instead, every time she pops up in the public eye like she did on CNN, at the Iowa State fair a short number of days ago. she said 'I haven't made a decision.'"

"I'm just speculating that more likely than not she is going to be a candidate."

"Now I said 'I wouldn't bet a lot of money on it' because it is such a close thing and I am not privy to her thought-making process. But it is sign of enormous thin-skin that if we speculate about her, she gets upset. And I suspect if we didn't speculate about her, she would be upset and getting ways to get us to speculate about her."

So you don’t think that her fans and supporters would not have come forward and paid her debts? I would have done so in a heart beat!

>> “She enacted the law that ultimately forced her to leave office.

That isn’t a resume-enhancer for any candidate.” <<

Damn you’re stupid!

The law didn’t force her to leave office,

The antics of people with just slightly higher scruples than you did.

You couldn't have done so because her first legal defense fund was even declared illegal by the Rat controlled investigation.

he discovered the evidence and turned it over to the appropriate prosecutors. Her predecessors had the same evidence, but chose to conceal it.

What evidence was that? Evidence against who? I've never seen that assertion before. Got a link to your source?

I’m not the clueless one since I can read the tea leaves. She can’t beat 0bama. People are tired of her. People who don’t sit on FR all the time call her a quitter because of her history. It’s not too hard to figure out.

She’s not fit for the job of POTUS after 0bama gets finished. She hasn’t got the stamina to do what will need to be done. If she wants to stay in politics that is fine, she’s just not going to be an automatic shoe in for POTUS like some here believe.

We need someone who will not quit in the middle of the term when the SHTF from all of the crap 0bama and gang has foisted on us.

Maybe you need to think about why she couldn’t work with the others in the state to fix a problem she helped create. The POTUS does need to be able to work with others in order to get their agenda passed. You just gave me another reason why she’s not up to the job.

All of us here are familiar with the inside baseball with respects to her decision to resign as governor. The average joe in the street sees it a little differently.

Then educate them. You say you know all the reasons. Open your mouth and educate them. Educate your wife while you're at it.

I purposely bring up Palin's name in conversations I have with aquaintences just to guage their reaction. If they start to talk about something negative they've heard in the news, I tell them the other side of the story. Usually, the reaction is something like, "I didn't know that," or "I hadn't heard about that." At that juncture, I point out that you can't always rely on the media to tell the whole story, to which they readily agree. It's incumbant upon all Palin supporters to do this.

She was gamed by unscrupulous political enemies. Could this happen on a federal level? Could a President Palin be gamed again by unscrupulous political enemies? Maybe so. Ain’t like it didn’t already happen.

And Finny, thanx for all the historical generalities and background info, but Palin ain’t Reagan. Doubt there’ll ever be another Reagan. I say again, if you really believe “Palin detractors have to be devious and misrepresent the truth in their attempt to get people not to support Palin,” you either didn’t really mean it the way you wrote it, or you’re deluded/irrational/incompetent.

Is Rove in charge of Palin's Sarah PAC website?

You might want to read the line in the story at your link where it says that Rove was not mentioned by name. Rove is such an egotistical ass that he assumed the article was about him.

So, “the news” is that Murdoch is paying Rasmussen and others to damage Sarah Palin’s chances by faking polls? The same Murdoch that pays Palin as a Fox News analyst?

Mmmmmmmmkay This place is becoming Nutsville.

IT WAS A BIG MISTAKE THAT HAS COST HER POLITICALLY

Yes, how terrible of her to put the welfare of her state above her own political ambitions.

Because of the law that she signed, she left herself open to these ridiculous lawsuits. You’re worse than arguing with a liberal, since you purport to be a “conservative”, yet you insult my intelligence and my morals in one flaming turd of a troll post. You do realize that the actions of you Palinbots on this board affects peoples’ view of Sarah, fair or not, right? It has certainly impacted my view of her as a leader, since I am disgusted by the rabid attacks on fellow conservatives that her FR supporters are engaging in on fellow FReepers.

What’s most ironic to me is that you bemoan the “attacks” on Palin, yet engage in the same name-calling and smears that supposedly disgust you when directed at Palin by liberals.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons for a person to quit a job, a marriage, etc.

That doesn't mean that they won't be viewed as a quitter. Palin quit her job and went on reality TV. No amount of spin is going to change that fact, and the rabid Palinbots should learn that every single FReeper that I've met would support Palin over Obama in a general election. We're not the people they should be targeting, are we?

Another Palinbot goes to the “you're stupid” card.

Winning hearts and minds... I've never seen a more terrible grassroots approach to trying to garner support for a preferred candidate. Smear any other GOP announced candidate, and then smear fellow FReepers/conservatives for not kissing the feet of Sarah Palin. Who came up with this?

As it is, the attacks like this by Palin's most ardent supporters are actually giving me a more negative opinion of her. She just sits back and plays coy while the conservative base is tearing each other to shreds. Meanwhile, our incompetent president is playing yet another 18 holes today, yet Palin, through her PAC, has her supporters actively seeking to harm the GOP, and it's not even primary season. It's an incredibly short-sighted political strategy to me, and I admit that I'm baffled and frustrated by it.
