WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman says he'd be open to running as vice president if rival and tea party favorite Michele Bachmann wins the nomination.
The former ambassador to China and ex-Utah governor says that every time he's been asked to serve his country he's answered "yes." Huntsman tells CNN interviewer Piers Morgan that if asked by the Minnesota congresswoman to run as her vice president he'd "be the first person to sign up, absolutely."
Huntsman tried quickly to backtrack, saying the answer was based on a hypothetical question and that he has no doubt he'll win the GOP nomination. The interview was aired Monday night.

Michele, I know this goes without saying, but don’t you dare even think about it!!
LOL If it were Bachmannn let’s say not announcing and riding her bus around and FReepers posted ping lists of her every move and guessed and made crap up and said she is running this month no wait next month ;how long would it last before they were called nuts and told to stfu?
A rino-conservative ticket. That’ll fire up the base.
Ditto.
Actually I thought “Pitiful” first...
Someone who was already deemed a douche.
I would be open to the idea of being Bachmann’s VP as well. I have about as much chance of her wanting me as her asking Jon Huntsman.
After his last performance, Huntsman should be leftover chow mein.
Will John Edwards see prison?
[In a Major Hochstetter voice] Who IS this Huntsman?
Announcing you are willing to be VP to a candidate who really only has a chance for the VP position - Major Fail
Wow. Huntsman sets his sights high /sarc.
LOL, Huntsman.
Not even on the radar!
Reminds me of John Edwards trying to tell Obama that ok, he’d accept VP of ambassador...or something. LOL
We couldn’t get rid of this douche Huntsman fast enough to suit me.
I sort of wish Trump would get back into the Primary race. That would shake things up and make the news interesting!
You know, Rick Santorum said something interesting on Fox, so interesting I had to even call my wife and repeat it. And what he said sort of made me take a second look at him and the bigger picture. He said, the Republican candidate is going to win Texas - that we don't need a Perry to win that state. But we do need someone to win Ohio, Pennsylvania (other?) ... and as soon as I thought about it, I realized not only did I not think about that, but it's a great point.
Can Santorum win Ohio and Pennsylvania? If fellow, wiser than I am Republicans give me the straight up on that one, if Rick is the guy to win those states, maybe I might consider him as the candidate.
This is AMAZING !. I was just thinking this evening, if Sarah Palin decides to run for president, I would just love to be her Vice President.
