I reluctantly went to see this propaganda film on Sunday.
My elderly aunt and uncle wanted to “treat” me to this movie. I warned them that I suspected it was a hate Whitey film, there to instill White Guilt in people who don’t have a racist bone in their body. People who have never harmed anyone. Ever.
Sure enough, it was filled with super negative white characters, so horrible it was laughable. And the black characters were in shown in the best possbile light.
I sat there for 2 hours, while the libtards in the audience showed their disapproval of the wildly stereotypical protrayal of hideous white behavior, by “tisk-tisking” loudly throughout the film.
Well, at least I got in for free. And it was worth every penny.
I give it a FAIL.
Don’t bother to see it.
Rather clean my oven, scrub floors, steam the rugs, weed the garden.
It had a few good laughs, but only as it painted all white people as horrible racists.
Gee, I thought they were moving on and calling us “terrorists” now!
Movie script written by Walt Disney Pictures. Excuse me now I have to go puke.
Not ALL the white characters were racists, unless the movie was COMPLETELY different than the book, which, from what others have said, is not the case. Maybe you simply projected your own feelings onto the movie; you EXPECTED a film hating whitey, so that's what you saw.
I loved the movie. It’s about my hometown. I have known plenty of racist white people in my life. Family members. Teachers. Neighbors. (lived in a neighborhood with a neighborhood covenant—no selling of house to blacks. when someone broke the covenant in the early 1990s, the neighbors couldn’t sell their houses fast enough.) I’ve also known plenty of people who treated everyone with dignity and respect no matter their skin color or physical condition. I am so thankful to have known those people.
