Rick Perry loves big government and other true political stories

I spoke to a group of politically active, so-called conservatives last week at a hotel here in my New Mexico hometown. One of the topics that kept coming up was whether I despised Texas Gov. Rick Perry as much as I despised most other candidates that the Republican/Democrat regime is trying to force me to pick from in the next election.

Let’s think through some deep thoughts and do fact-checking on Perry and the entire Left/Right paradigm as most people seem to see it right now:

You can spend about five minutes on the governor’s official website confirming that Rick Perry is yet another big-government, corporate-welfare lover from the Republican side of the Republican/Democrat regime, whose policies are fundamentally no different from the Clinton/Bush/Obama policies of years past.

Apparently, for example, the government doesn’t create jobs except when it’s welfare for Office Depot Inc. (ODP):

Gov. Perry: Fiscal Responsibility is Essential for Prosperity and Job Creation: Perry noted that government doesn’t create jobs; it creates the environment

“14 trillion in bailouts the last three years” by Bush and Obama. Eeeh Cody, a little hyperbole there? Try to be a little more accurate next time. Might make the rest of your column a little more believeable. And get a haircut.

I read Perry differently. I see him wanting a STRONG government, not a BIG government.

I’d vote for Hitler over Obama at this point. At least Hitler knew how to get an economy going.

I thought so too; until I dug a little deeper. When I hit the STENCH of Perry's Gov't mandate that ALL girls get the HPV vaccine - he lost me and made an enemy.

Don't get me wrong, I think the vaccine is a good thing. For example, I think Breast Exams are a life-saver too - but I would NEVER use my authority as Govenor to FORCE women to undergo them.

He is more of a Dictator/Statist than a Conservative Representative. Even when he had his Governor's Executive Decree overturned - he challanged the authority of the Texas Legislature to overturn his order. That isn't the sort of man I want in the White house, to represent me. I want a person who is Conservative, and believes in the Constitution - and is not a Dictator. I wish Sarah Palin would throw in. But, considering she can make $25 Million/yr as a motivational speaker - she may be using her fame to provide for herself and her family. She's free to do as she wishes; but IMHO, the country desperately needs someone like her.

Well, it’s perry. And when it’s perry, it’s different. Just ask any perry supporter.

Freddy,

States vs Feds =

The Paradigm.

You might want to go back to your drawing board.

Just a thought...

You got that! Even if somehow he gets the nomination I still won’t vote for him. Now some will have plenty to say about this, but I am funny I don’t want my wife, daughter, granddaughter, mother aunt or for that matter any family member injected by force of the government with a experimental vaccine, guest I am funny that way.

As far as Obama well ‘better the devil that you know rather the devil you don’t know’ and I want my enemy standing in front of me not next to me with a smile and knife.

Both his parents had cancer.

He said, “I hate cancer”.

He saw this as a chance to stop a cancer epidemic before it ever got started.

He jumped the gun and tried to mandate an anti cancer vaccine program (though it had an opt out) through the public school vaccination program that already existed.

The Texas Legislature said no way, no how, Governor.

And that was the end of it. Yeah he was dragged kicking and screaming off the idea, but that was indeed the end of it because that’s the way the state government worked.

As intended.

As Perry himself will tell you.

He said, “I realize I work for the people of Texas, not the other way around”.

And to your screed that you are justified in hating a “big government” Rick Perry because of guardasil, I say,

NO SALE.

“Seventeen things critics are saying about Rick Perry” (and the truth)....http://peskytruth.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/rick-perrys-negatives/

This puts Perry’s record, which is very positive, in perspective. It also talks about the relative strength of the Texas governorship.

Post #13...just past your own, explains what really happened.

Got the guts to read the truth?

Then, after reading the truth, want to tell us more how Rick Perry is even worse than Obama, and how you’d rather have Obama as President?

I’ve stopped responding to posters who so delight in posting words like STENCH in caps. They just aren’t worth anyone’s effort. It only gives them another opportunity to stink up a thread.

I don't know how you could have been on FR for any length of time without being up to date on the Gardasil knock down, drag out debate. Nobody was EVER forced to be vaccinated. It was never advocated that anybody be "forced" to be vaccinated and no one was in fact vaccinated.

Long story short: Perry thought it would be a good idea for school girls to be vaccinated because he "hates Cancer". He issued an executive order requiring such but with an opt-out. (BTW, Texas school children cannot attend school w/o being up to date on their vaccinations).

There was a lot of public backlash and Perry let it drop. He's admitted his mistake and I think learned a valuable lesson about issuing executive orders.

The fact that the system worked correctly isn’t my point. My point is that he tried to upsurp Dictatorial priviledge - that should be the 3rd rail in any game. You are the Govenor of the greatest state on earth; not God.

My Mom has Breast Cancer - you won’t see me FORCING anyone to undergo Breast exams. You see, to me, NO ONE has the right to dictate what others do, or opt not to do.

School vaccines - this is a case where passive sick students infect other students. This is a case where vaccines are for the public good. You can catch polio, small pox, chicken pox, influenza and a host of other life-threatening diseases by proximity to an infected person.

However, to get HPV; you MUST be sexually active. Now, I can’t speak to your school - but mine frowned upon active sexualaty on the school grounds. Even the teachers knew to take their students somewhere else. For someone to dictate this shot - it’s as unforgiveable as cannabalism.

Then we have the whole Perry and illegal immigration issue.

In Perry’s STRONG government will he do away with these malpractices or will he fit himself with a pair of muslim kneepads on top of his western boots like his predecessors have done?

Don’t underestimate the relentless creep of shariah law:

Generally agree, yet this thread was posted by someone whose theme was, Rick Perry is for Big Government, completely missing the fact that Rick Perry is for the states over the Feds.
Then along comes another who states that guardasil was the proof he needed that Perry likes Big Government, followed by another who areed in the most inaccurate and incendiarly of terms.

The whole thread stinks.

Sorry to have bothered you. Not just saying that, but sincerely mean it.
