Thank you so much for your hard work on these hurricane threads, FRiend! You provide an invaluable service to so many of us here at FR, and I appreciate all of the vital information about these ever-changing storms.

We are "on guard" up here in the People's Republik of Connecticut... looks like we may be in Irene's crosshairs. Joe Bastardi (of whatever weather outfit he works for now) said last night on O'Reilly that Irene looks a lot like Hurricane Gloria of 1985, only worse. My sister and her husband live near Providence on Greenwich Bay (off Narragansett Bay). I'm worried about them...

One daughter lives 3 blocks from the beach in RI, other on Newport Island.

Going to call them tonight and see what they’re doing.

Very worried. I hope you’re far from the ocean. I remember as a child in North Stonington - early to mid 50s - a big hurricane, all I remember is tons of rain, couldn’t go outside, and the yard looked like just water.
