My grandmother and her sisters canned. I’ve never tried it. Gran thought I was a helpless modern flake ;-), and I’d still rather live on beans and rice than cut up a whole chicken!

My grandmother was a wonderful cook and baker, but none of that talent made its way to her daughters or grandchildren. I'm not aware that she canned, but she did grow some of her vegetables and other edible plants in her garden. She made everything from scratch, although I believe she used Bisquick for her strawberry shortcakes, which I don't consider to be a fault. She also made a rhubarb pie using her own rhubarb, and an amazing lemon meringue pie. She was quite a woman.

I can do basic cooking. I actually make a very good roast chicken and a better than average omelet, but I prefer to microwave. :)
