If Obama not seeking re-election is the premise, the article is garbage. Obama is a narcissist, it would be impossible for him to NOT seek re-election.
I would bet a lot on that.
I figure if it looks like there is no way Obama will be re-elected, the people who control him may make sure someone runs against him - or he can decide not to seek re-election on his own.
But the best part of the article is:
Four years on, there is a small but growing rumbling in the political underground that Obama was chosen precisely because of his light weight. The argument is that he was promoted over Hillary because he would be malleable and would “lead from behind”. In other words, he’d follow.
Party elders sensed that his charisma, effective speaking style and inspiring tale as a bi-racial success story made him a product they could sell to the voters. After the sale, he’d be easy to control.

Beyond that, any inkling of retirement on his part would cause him to be slapped into reality by Michele who relishes living like royalty and playing the privileged elitist role to the hilt.
She is probably the one behind all the early fundraisers going on and will fight tooth and nail to hold onto those perks for as long as possible.
As a narcissist, I would think his ego would prevent him from running and suffering the ultimate humiliation of being defeated!

By the same token, if he knew he had no chance to win, his narcisism wouldn’t allow him to run because of the humiliation he would suffer by the loss.
YUP.
He is a narcissist and would not fare well with defeat... choosing his own destiny by not running will give him the perceived power he seeks. He may be advised not to run so that his legacy will be preserved. (Legacy in the sense of how the RATS view success).
