Gov. Rick Perry talks like George W. Bush but might win like Ronald Reagan.
Last weekends Ames straw poll made for great political theater, but the important action was taking place in South Carolina and New Hampshire, where Texas Gov. Rick Perry kicked off his presidential campaign.
Perry, the straight-talking three-term governor, is bringing to the race a message and biography that couldnt contrast any more starkly with President Obamas.
He grew up in rural Paint Creek, Texas, farming cotton in his early years, and attending the states land-grant university, Texas A&M. Obama went to Harvard Law School, earned his political chops in Chicago, spending much of his early career in academia. Perry has governed a low-tax, low-regulation state at a time when the president has sought to expand governments role in the economy. The Texas governor's blunt advocacy of conservatism and faith-tinged rhetoric couldnt be any different from Obamas nuanced rhetoric and cautious governing style.

Hey, dweeb, I talk like George Bush, too, and I’m proud of it.
Need more of us clodhoppers in Washington to straighten this country out.
“Perry: The GOP Frontrunner”
Oh bullsqueeze! He’d be a damned site better than Romney but he’s not the frontrunner. Not yet. I feel that there are three at the top of the race, Perry is one of ‘em. Then Romney, then Bachmann. Two out of the three don’t suck eggs.
Any of the three would be at least slightly better than the marxist in the White House.
I assume you are saying front runner, as in, on the democrat ticket, where he may be in second place. Because rino boy came in in sixth in Iowa. And we are not going for any of the bill clintoon comeback kid crap.the man is not a front runner on anything but amnesty, and there he may be a noise ahead of Obummer.
I’m watching Perry and trying to determine how I feel about him.I’ve been very surprised at the percentage of Conservatives on this site who seem to totally reject him, as well as the percentage of Conservatives on this site who seem to think he is a potential savior.
>>Gov. Rick Perry talks like George W. Bush but might win like Ronald Reagan<<
Well duh! Reagan won in a landslide after the miserable term of Jimmy Carter.
A wet dishrag could win a landslide after Obozo’s term.
Team Perry is trying to create an illusion much like team Obama did.
agree.
when the ruling class loses their sychophant romney,
they’ll grab another republican such as perry or christie
to stop bachmann or palin.
He also flew C-130’s as an Air Force Pilot
Kind of funny, the desperation of the left and the globalists to find a GOP candidate who can take votes from Palin.
Yep. Ineluctable or some crap like that.
Time to run a disk through Washington and break up the clods.
So much for the Reagan rule. (and no it’s not just *vetting*)
Let’s just go ahead an reelect Barry.
Kind of funny, the desperation of the left and the globalists to find a GOP candidate who can take votes from someone who isn’t even in the damned race?
Perry would have won Ames had he not been running matters in his state all this time (unlike Pawlenty Romney Santorum etc he is not a “former” elected official). Bachmann won did well because of “favorite daughter” status and Ron Paul? Well he has a lot of unemployed college syudents to pack these events for him.
“Perry would have won Ames”
You cannot possibly know that.
Palin hasn’t declared.
OBAMA\PERRY Don’t think, don’t research, ...just vote like we tell you!
Until Palin announces, Perry is the frontrunner, in my opinon. I think he has the financial backing and the record to run on that the other conservative candidates lack. And Romney is only in front because the conservatives are splitting their support.
