EXCERPT FROM FORBES MAGAZINE:
She says she never wanted to make the ad - which was prompted by questions about a statement she had made on a late-night talk show years earlier - and was surprised when it showed up on the Internet. She blames an insistent media consultant but also her own inability to put her foot down.
"It was a wrong-headed move, made for all the wrong reasons, but it was mine," O'Donnell writes in "Troublemaker: Let's Do What It Takes to Make America Great Again." The book is scheduled to go on sale Aug. 16. The Associated Press purchased a copy on Thursday.
Soon after, she hired Davis to produce ads for her campaign, based on the recommendation of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. O'Donnell writes that Davis pushed her to film the "I am not a witch," commercial, even though she made clear she was deeply uncomfortable with the idea. Even then, she says, she never intended to use the ad. According to O'Donnell, her hand was forced only when the ad was leaked and posted on the Internet.

Other witnesses who were present at the filming of Fred Davis' "witch" ad confirm Christine O'Donnell's account -- that Christine O'Donnell rejected the "witch" script the night before, sat down and got wired in with ear piece and microphone, and then was confronted with the script she had rejected the night before. Fred Davis badgered O'Donnell to just "TRY OUT" the script, and if she didn't like the result they wouldn't use it.
Fred Davis, as confirmed by other witnesses, then used the unapproved version on the internet and in TV ad buys and sent the ad to the New York Times.
So.... Did the RINO insider establishment intentionally sabotage Christine O'Donnell's campaign?
Christine O'Donnell admits in her book that it was her moment of weakness that she acquiesced to Fred Davis' badgering. She admits she should not have allowed herself to be pushed into it -- even on the promise that it was only a test to see what it would look like, not a "real" version of the final ad.
Christine O'Donnell told me personally that if she could have 20 seconds of her life back it would be NOT her now-famous moment of honesty about her teenage years on "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher," but the moment she agreed to hire Fred Davis after having her arm twisted by XYZ at great length.
XYZ is very close and buddy-buddy with Republican insiders at the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
O'Donnell was encouraged to hire Fred Davis by XYZ with the idea that hiring one of the Republican insider's consultants could give them confidence in her campaign and bring the Republican establishment on board in a unity drive for the Delaware U.S. Senate seat. O'Donnell spent a lot of effort trying to bring the GOP together for the November 2 election.
But... Was this all a set up from the start?
Did a GOP insider pressure O'Donnell to hire Fred Davis, so that Fred Davis could intentionally make an ad damaging to O'Donnell -- and then run it without approval?
Never EVER underestimate the slime that can ooze from the beltway insiders.
RINOs are lying, manipulative, bottom feeding, scum who will happily hand a race to the democrats so they can say “told you so”.
Conservatism and the liberal establishment portion of the GOP have been at war since August 29, 2008.
She was a horrible candidate and no standard bearer for conservatives. Get over it.
Karl Rove continued to sabotage her constantly, AFTER she was nominated. Not much doubt that the establishment was out to get her.
And the same thing happened with Sarah Palin. Read “Going Rogue.” McCain’s operators deliberately sabotaged her, again and again, even though it cost McCain the election.
Frankly, I was disappointed in some of the folks here on FR as well, since they didn’t seem to understand what was going on, and accepted with the Left Wing Press had to say about O’Donnell.

Lesson learned. If you’re a conservative Tea Party type, NEVER accept help from RNSC/RNC insiders. Demand money from them, but hire your own people.
She sounded good with conservative words and we all jumped into the bandwagon ! But,she was a horrible manager of her campaign ! For god sake, she could not use the money to do the 24 hr continuous ads in the local channels because the campaign did not submit the ads at the right time ! That was supposed to be the last push for the campaign! She had 1 million dollars that was not spent ! Are you kidding me?
Also, she lacked any credible experience and that was a big factor !Yes, the Rhinos like Karl Rove screwed her too !
No. She made the add. She was in in it and said the words.
I thought that war had been going on at least since the Taft/Roosevelt days.
don’t ever give to the party....let them go begging at their masters feet....
The ads run by Castle against Christine O’Donnell in the primary were as viscious as any ads I have ever heard. When she won the primary, rather than do the honorable thing, Castle and the GOP establishment chose not to support her.
I just can't listen to Rove and Hannity should stop having him on his show...
The hostilities are eternal, but all out war only shows up when we get a game changing conservative that actually stands a chance of winning the Presidency.
Nothing is too low for the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
“Did a GOP insider pressure O’Donnell to hire Fred Davis, so that Fred Davis could intentionally make an ad damaging to O’Donnell — and then run it without approval?”
A LOT of us figured it was a setup. That’s why we have such CONTEMPT for the Republican leadership.
Christine O’Donnell writes in her new book TROUBLEMAKER that establishment Republican TV guru Fred Davis pushed Christine O’Donnell into filming the infamous “I’m not a witch” ad - by saying “Let’s just see how it looks” . Then Fred Davis posted the ad on the internet, sent it to the New York Times, and placed it with TV stations — WITHOUT FINAL AUTHORIZATION from Christine O’Donnell.
Other witnesses who were present at the filming of Fred Davis’ “witch” ad confirm Christine O’Donnell’s account — that Christine O’Donnell rejected the “witch” script the night before, sat down and got wired in with ear piece and microphone, and then was confronted with the script she had rejected the night before. Fred Davis badgered O’Donnell to just “TRY OUT” the script, and if she didn’t like the result they wouldn’t use it.
****************
....after Christine’s repeated objection and rejection of the script...
....and then was confronted with the script she had rejected the night before......
O’Donnell said no but she didn’t mean it apparently. If she was in charge all she had to do was get up and walk. To me this says a lot about her capibilities, all talk but no walk.
O’Donnell isn’t running for anything. What her own capabilities may have been doesn’t matter. It’s what the RINOs are capable of that conservatives need to be attentive to.
