Rick is a straight up SANE Conservative who would actually have made all the other pet candidates look pale by comparison had he been able to make his points. Ther was no way theywere going to allow that to happen. What they did was to showcasepaul, bachmann, and pawlenty to show how bizarre the right wing *extremists* are. paul embarrassed the entire Republican party. THAT is the image they want the voters to see.

“Appears almost like FoxNews is trying to shake the rumor that they are pro-republican.”

They’re trying so hard to be “fair and balanced” that they’re being quite UNfair and UNbalanced tonight.

Don’t they know the demographics of their viewers? Really, really stupid, unprofessional behavior tonight.

Finally caught the rest. Didn't hear any commentary on it yet. Here's my 2 cents:

Winners:
Romney - articulate, poised and dealt handily with all questions; not a single serious blow by any opponent/moderator;
Gingrich - rising from the ashes, Gingrich demonstrates his intellect once again, but ads fire in the belly;
Paul - little to lose and delivered a good dose of reality on economics in particular, off the rails on Iran, but mostly right on foreign wars; stole the spotlight frequently

Losers:
Bachmann - more to lose than any other candidate being on the 1st tier margin. Was drawn down by Pawlenty and forced to scrap. Her own performance would have been solid, but she was a victim of Pawlenty. She'll live to fight another day however;
Huntsman - astonishingly unprepared for opening critical economic plan question. Needed a breakout performance. Didn't get it;
Santorum - totally marginalized and looked small denigrating Ron Paul. Not going anywhere;
Cain - needed a breakout performance after his disastrous Islam remarks to survive. LIkeable, but didn't get it;
Pawlenty - worst performance of the evening. Went from being weak in the last debate to artificially nasty in this one, with cheap shots and class warfare zingers. Not helped by his handlers. He's done.

Wow. Ron Paul sure is a proud member of the blame-America-for-everything club. He would follow obama`s example and go around the world on an apology tour.

Become a student of History and you will find your answers. Only a few ever stand up to tyranny... some join the enemy... like Italy... some try to hide like Switzerland and some follow like the allies in WWII... and some lead like the USA and Britain. Same as it ever was... humans never change. That is why America is truly exceptional... although today that spirit is being snuffed out by the left... and in Britain... it is all but gone.

“The era of Reagan is over... with this last election... the electorate has moved further left... as a party... we must become more diverse and move in the direction of the electorate”.

Rick Santorum

Subbing for Bill Bennett's “Morning in America” radio show... a couple of weeks after the 2008 election... co-hosted with Michael Steele... who agree 100%.

He is the real deal alright... Rinoidus Maximus

Gingrich was surprisingly pretty good. I
loved the way he called out Chris Wallace on his stupid petty questions. Bachman’s eyes looked a little weird. I don’t think she’s quite as ready for prime time as many think. Same for pawlenty. He’s finished. That leaves Perry who did the right thing by staying away from that side show of a debate.

Obama’s laughing tonight, we need to do much better than this pathetic lineup of candidates!

What is pathetic is supposed "Conservatives" vapidly regurgitating the Junk Media DNC directed talking points.

Any of these candidates would be a much better President then 0. Zero is by far the worst President of all times.

“’Ron Paul is the man who ignited the fire, creating the Tea Party.....’

Please explain how”

He meant to say, Ron Paul ignited a big joint and smoked some special “tea” before the party.

I don’t understand what the shock or surprise is of Gingrich’s performance is? Everybody knows (or should know) by now he’s probably the most skilled debater out there. The probelm in recent years has been his rhetoric doesn’t match his actions, and he moves back in establishment politics on the big things:

1. Commercial with Nancy Pelosi
2. Trash Paul Ryan
3. B*tched about TARP, then said he’d vote for it
4. Had personal debate with Kerry/Hillary and praised them

Trust but verify folks....trust but verify.

As for tonights results (in reverse order)

8. Huntsman - Where is this guy’s base. He should be out by the weekend, but money will let him overstay his welcome. If he likes throwing away his own cash, guess he won’t have a problem spending federal dollars the same either. LOSER

7. Pawlenty - I’ve had enough. So the guy went nuclear on MB tonight. Listenting to his attacks, it sounds like his team got their talking points from some of the Palin KAD’s who’ve bashed Bachmann for the same things 24/7. And he took one little shot at Romney, so obviously T-Paw thinks he’s toast if he doesn’t do well in IA. At this rate, Santorum is going to out-do him. LOSER

6. Paul - My favorite was where FOX tried to give viewers a pan-view of the audience when the Paulunatics were cheering. Made you think they were a big part of the crowd, but most of the time, the majority of the audience was stone-faced. The truth of this nut is out, and I’m glad FOX decided to hang him with the Foreign Policy questions. LOSER

5. Romney - What, was he at this debate? Seems like MB was treated like the front-runner since she is poised to win the Ames straw poll. Romney’s smirks are getting annoying. But I guarantee you his campaign just crapped themselves because Mr. Generic Republican (Rick Perry) is getting in. Watch to Romney-folks now beg for Gov Palin to get in the race to split the conservative vote more. - DRAW

4. Bachmann - She held her ground against T-Paw, then surprisingly had to hold off Santorum’s attacks of “showmanship”. The best part of the night was her expression when she was asked the “submissive” question. All-in-all, okay, and she’s probably still the favorite to win Ames. - DRAW

3. Santorum - Perhaps his attack on MB stuck better than T-Paw’s since he’s actually been in Congress. But Santorum put the lunatic Paul in his place. He probably moved from maybe 4% to 7 or 8%. While that is small, it’s still a gain. WIN

2. Gingrich - See above where I mentioned about how good a debater Newt is. But that doesn’t correalate to his actions. Personally, I thought he started acting like a baby to CW and BB. Why is it not legitimate to bring up the fact that if you can’t keep your campaign afloat and out of $1M debt, how do you manage to get the country back afloat. Also, Newt reverts to his professor background and starts lecturing. Yeah, it’s good for a debate performance, but I doubt he gets any traction in the polls. - WIN

1. Cain - Gave good answers within time limits, didn’t sparr with anyone, touted his outsider image, showed that he could LEARN. Did very well with the limited time he had. Probably stopped some of the backsliding he may had been experiencing in the polls. Although #1 here, this isn’t a big win, but still a win. - WIN

My Prediction for Ames

1. Bachmann 28%
2. Romney 21%
3. Cain 13%
4. Paul 9%
5. Pawlenty 9%
6. Santorum 7%
7, Write-Ins (Perry/Palin, etc) 6%
8. Gingrich 6%
9. Huntsman 1-<1%

Perry’s chumming with Muslims Mesta! ....just what we don’t need! More politicians helping Islam infilitrate our country! Some interesting read about his comments concerning bringing Islam to this country. He just lost any consideration from me....and I will be opposing him.

...”Texas Governor Rick Perry requested the Texas A&M Aggie Corps Of Cadets Ross Volunteer Company to do a sabre arch salute at a special ceremony for the arrival of the Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of 16 million Islamic Muslims worldwide.”.....

( Perry’s also encouraging teachers to teach students about Islam)

Ron Paul is the man who ignited the fire, creating the Tea Party.

No, that is pure Paulbot spin. If you can credit any single person with "igniting the fire" that led to the Tea Party, it would actually be Rick Santelli of CNBC.

But as others have pointed out, the Tea Party brewed ground-up from the grassroots. There may be some points of intersection with Paul's domestic economic platform, but otherwise methinks you Paulestinians are just trying to ride the wave.

Perry is a friend of the Aga Khan, the religious leader of the Ismailis, a ‘sect of Shia Islam’ that claims a reported 15 to 20 million adherents worldwide. Sprouting from that friendship are ....at least two cooperation agreements between the state of Texas and Ismaili institutions, .....”including a far-reaching program to educate Texas schoolchildren about Islam”.

This is soooooooobad.....Perry’s out once this gets known....if it gets known at all!
