While Texas Gov. Rick Perry has made no formal announcement, he told Time magazine in an interview he wants to run for president.
"I mean I wouldn't be this far into the process. The issue of, 'is this what I want to do?' was dealt with about 45 days ago in a conversation with my wife," Perry said. "Prior to that, no.
Being the president of the United States was not on my radar screen from the standpoint of something I wanted to do."
Perry added he has a "calmness" in his heart about running.

Thanks for the info.......
Will he make this announcement in Spanish?? I bet he will...
NO PerryCARE.
NO RomneyCARE.
NO ObamaCARE.
NO RINOs.
I have pretty much come to the conclusion Palin isn’t running.
Thus, Perry is second choice. Is he perfect re: immigration etc. No, but he did sign voter ID and did tough economic choices this year with the state budget, some I didn’t like as a teacher since he cut education...I don’t want to lose my job.
But, education is full of waste and he did what was necessary. Luckily my district has handled its money well and not wasted it on bloated administration, so my job is safe.
I would not take much of anything serious about what you read from a typical Palin thread.
Same here. Until then, pfffft.
LOL I live in Texas and he is Arnold.
“What would be REALLY amazing is if he picked Palin for VP!”
I cannot imagine Sarah Palin running as anyone’s second banana again. I will say that she will either be the nominee, or she will not be in the race.
I think that either Bachmann, Cain, or West would be good choices IF he wins the primary. He, at this point, is not going to be who I vote for in the primary. However, he is “acceptable” (not very enthused) in a general election. Just about anyone running, except Ron Paul, would be better than Romney. I wouldn’t vote for Romeny or Paul in a general election.
People can’t control that “ground troops” try to get them to run.
She has never said she intends to run.
That would be good! :)
That would be .....the budget was balanced and education took a hit like everything else, but education still saw an increase, just not as much as it was expecting.
Technically, but it was east Texas. Different animal. :)
You’ve posted this before and I asked you to explain PerryCare. I live in Texas and have never heard of it. You didn’t explain it before and if you don’t explain it this time, you are doing nothing but promoting lies and you will be henceforth labeled TROLL.
I have been learning about Perry very intensely lately. Believe me, he is every bit as much passion as Reagan did. The difference is that Reagan was such an unusual orator and his whole persona was one in a Billion.
But Perry is also very much a great and dedicated Conservative, minus the “Compassionate” rhetoric.
You sound pretty selfish to me. Sarah should do what’s best for the country — in her own estimation, by her own lights — not do what’s best for you. You should take care of yourself.
When voters start choosing the right candidate(s) instead of the candidate that can simply win; we will be on the road to recovery.
NO ludicrous comparisons of Gov. Perry
WITH RomneyCARE.
OR ObamaCARE.
NO DIOs.

“From a purely mercenary point of view, if Perry picks Allen West or Herman Cain as his VP, then the election is won.”
Won’t make a whit of difference, if the object of making such a choice is to “get more of the black vote”.
Obama will garner 92-95% of the black vote in 2012, if not more. It wouldn’t matter if BOTH the Republican presidential and vice presidential candidates were to be black. Won’t help the Pubbies at all, beyond 1 or 2 percentage points (of the black vote).
If you truly believe otherwise, you’re a fool.
Having a black on the Republican ticket will probably HURT the Republican’s chances. I’m going to say it and take my lumps, but Euro-Americans — whose votes will “make the difference” in 2012 — have had enough of “blacks on the ticket” for now. They will vote for the ticket that’s “most like themselves”. They’ve seen how “voting black” worked out for them, and for the country.
How much will it help the Republicans if they pick up a couple of percent of “the black vote”, but lose numerous points more of “the white vote” (which means more)?
Black Republicans are seen amongst _most blacks_ as “traitors to their race” and as “Uncle Toms”. If you don’t believe that, give Clarence Thomas a call....
Just sayin’...
