What Paint Creek, Texas can tell you about Rick Perry and 2012
The Telegraph ^ | Aug.11, 2011 | Toby Harnden

But if the contrasts between Perry and Bush are strong, just think of those between Perry and Obama - you could not get two more dissimilar American life stories.

Perry's roots in Paint Creek go back five generations when his grandfather J.M. Perry arrived there. He came from a strong, stable, Christian family that worked the land. Perry (then known as Ricky) attended the same humble school from elementary to high school graduation in a class of just 13.

Perry is consistently underestimated. I was struck by how many people mentioned his determination, his ability to plan (and he's been methodically planning his presidential bid for many weeks now) and his propensity for hard work.

I don’t think Rick Perry has ever lost an Election. He decimated Kay Bailey Hutchison in the TX GOP Gubernatorial Primary in 2010. You remember Kay don’t you? Ted Kennedy’s girlfriend.

No matter who it might be, when I find out a person is a Conservative, and supports the like of Rick Perry, I loose all respect for them.

My graduating class was made up 29. Seriously, several of our Presidents came from humble beginnings. So this makes him special?

Obama sees things in terms of a Third World socialist. His father was an African Marxist and his mother a leftist goofball. Nothing in his background or experience - far left community organizer, 20 years with the hate-monger Pastor Wright, close friendship with terrorist Bill Ayers, shady real estate deal with Syrian (now jailed) swindler Tony Rezko, associations with Louis Farrakhan and black militants - makes him a real American in terms of values or world view. Obama spent 150 days in the U.S. Senate, about 120 of them campaigning. He spent a few years in the Illinois state legislature voting “present.” Never has America been so poorly led. It’s like the nation committed “suicide by stupidity”.

Yeah, that's a slightly different life story than Rick Perry's.

After it’s all said and done if Rick Perry is the chosen one, it will be a vote you will regret for the rest of your life, mark my words.

Oh well then, if Rick Perry is the Republican Candidate for President, I will be sure to vote for Barack Obama in the next election. I'm sure four more years of BHO would be better for the Country than Rick Perry. /s

"So I decided to follow Paul Burka’s advice and head down to Paint Creek, Texas, where Governor Rick Perry – due to announce his White House run on Saturday – grew up. It was an absolutely fascinating trip to West Texas (the 108-degree heat notwithstanding) and my news feature for the Telegraph can be found here."...........

Maybe because it's 4:40am here, but I don't "get" your comment. My Grandfather in TX was also a cotton farmer until the bottom fell out in 1930. What's the deal about cotton farmers?

My Mom was one of the older kids who helped in the fields. She said that if the kids didn't pick fast enough, my Grandfather would yell at them, or give them a smack.

I guess that means you have no respect for Sarah Palin. Thank you for confirming that your main objective is to support Obama, while pretending to be a conservative.

Governor Sarah Palin's Endorsement of Governor Rick Perry

"Rick Perry is true to conservative principles even when others think the party needs to go a different direction. I like that about him: he doesn't care which way the wind blows, he acts on his beliefs.

That's why I am supporting Governor Rick Perry for re-election. He does what is right regardless of whether it is popular. He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks to his guns - and you know how I feel about guns!

Signed, Sarah Palin

Probably because he's thinking about "peanut farmers" but too intoxicated to understand the difference in peanuts and cotton right now. A failed attempt at a Jimmy Carter comparison is my best guess..lol
