Look, rightly or wrongly, Conservatives are known for well....Conservative values. Including but not limited to respecting the sanctity of marriage by having children in the context of a committed, legal marriage between and man and woman which preferably takes place before the line shows up on the EPT or at least shortly thereafter.
Palin’s not a big abstinence nut but she is a conservative and so far two of her kids have conceived children well before marriage. Not a great track record. No pun intended.
As a Conservative, it’s stuff like this that makes me cringe. It adds to the conception of many that the Palins are kind of trashy. And posts like your recent trifecta cause me to question whether PDS is more aptly applied to her rabid supporters, as some of you are clearly deranged.
We're also known for having ideals, all the while realizing that as human beings our ideals will never be fully met. Does that mean we abandon our ideals? I would hope not.
I know perfectly well that people have sex before marriage — certainly more so nowadays at a time when mores have become so loose that even conservatives have given up on them and joined the opposition in celebrating uncontrolled sexual behavior. The fact remains, however, that sex before marriage is not a good idea and has been conclusively proven to lead to bad consequences. No thinking person should ever counsel another person that sex before marriage is a positive thing — even when the son or daughter of your favorite politician is doing it.
