The cops, I mean bobbies(sp?), are probably scared to death. They have no means to defend themselves.

BBC reporting 225 arrests. At that rate this is going to embolden these thugs.
If Mr B&E’s head there disappeared ,I would bet they would disperse and go hide under their beds.

I watched the cops in line being actually attacked and they simply took it and then backed up. YOU NEVER BACK UP! It gives the thugs courage and makes it worse. You get in there and beat the livin hell out of as many as you can beat.
Indeed, because it is happening in various different boroughs of London, the Met Police’s resources are stretched thin.
Main problem is it seems the rioters are using Facebook, Twitter and BlackBerry Messenger to coordinate their activities. Telling fellow rioters where to go next, and also using it to warn rioters in other locations if they spot the police are moving to their location.

Next thing you know the Commish will be having a press conference asking the thugs to please stop.
I’m in the US, of course, and don’t know the London neighborhoods, but reports keep saying that the looters have moved through several more upscale neighborhoods and shopping areas.

Hearing, according to reports, those taking pictures and video are being beaten and evidence being destroyed by these thugs. The riots are being organized on facebook, twitter, and other communication methods according to other reports. First shut down their communications, if any military available, send in the military and surround them, next crack their heads.
Yeah. Tottenham's in North London which has been downscale for years, but I was shocked to see Croydon listed. It's in far SW London and quite upscale. Sort of like Scarsdale is to NYC. Not far from Wimbledon.

I agree, somewhat. However, if you shut down the communications that would put decent people at a disadvantage. Imagine being in the middle of that and trying to call for help. With all the fires going on I would imagine there will be a death toll. May not ever hear of it though. Just like you’ll never hear any mention of the details of the thugs that are involved. Are they cranky Christians? Angry Amish? Jaded Jews? Pissed off Protestants?
I’m betting on something else.
