Well that makes it all OK, I guess.
Heaven forfend! They have to pay into their own Social Security and Medicare "entitlements"? Woe is them.
Nuanced = that which must be spun.
So what. And a lot of them get all of that - and often much more - through housing vouchers, food stamps, "free" job training/cell phones/school lunches, "crazy checks" for their children, etc., etc.
The net effect is that America has a huge parasitic underclass that needs to be weaned off the gubmint teat.
The Macroeconomic Effects of Tax Changes

tax increase of 1% of GDP lowers real GDP by almost 3%
How about the ones that pay nothing in, but get a huge (up to $5000) check back from the earned income tax credit? I use to do tax returns during tax season, but got so disgusted I had to quit, with these “poor” people who would come in and get a check back for $5000 when they paid little to nothing in during the year. It’s welfare and wealth redistribution disguised as a tax credit pure and simple. This should be the first thing that is eliminated before any tax increases. Nobody should get back more than they paid in. Period.
The REAL “other half of the story” would be answering the question, “How many of that 46% who pay no Federal Income Tax RECEIVE money from the taxpayers in the form of welfare, section 8, foodstamps, etc., and refundable tax credits that create tax “refunds” in excess of what was withheld from them (negative income tax).
There is no “nuance” to the story. While some of these people paying no Federal Income Tax may actually still be overtaxed by sales tax, property tax and state and local income taxes, the fact remains they are paying nothing towards the expenses of the Federal Government. If we need “revenue enhancements” we ought to make everyone (or at least a lot more than 54% pay at least something, before going after those who are paying most of the taxes already.
If the elderly disabled vet and the family that lost their job down the street don’t pay taxes why should i cut into my yacht and caviar fund to support them.
Guffaw!
I guess it is a nuance that all of us pay sales tax and gasoline tax but 46% don’t pay income tax?
Well, rather than who pays what we can focus on the real issue - that Washington receives an incredible tsunami of tax revenue already, misspends most of it, and has the gall to demand more.
A total falsehood due to the earned income tax credit. The earned income tax credit is intended to refund lower income families with the amount paid in payroll tax.
IF YOU DO NOT PAY INCOME TAXES... YOU ARE A PARASITE SUCKING THE LIFE OUT OF THOSE THAT DO... ALONG WITH THE LIFE BLOOD OF THE US ECONOMY... If obama WANTS FAIRNESS... WE ALL MUST SUFFER TOGETHER... THEREFORE EVERYONE THAT HAS ANY INCOME... EVEN A WELFARE CHECK... unEARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT... OR FOOD STAMPS (EBT card) SHOULD PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE.
LLS
Not to mention 20% of the people in America AREN’T FREAKIN AMERICANS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Note that in a few weeks the same shit for brains author will compare tax rates in 2010 with the “1950’s” like our idiot President - and will OMIT listing “payroll taxes” as taxes in that discussion.
These guys are a waste of time. We all know it.
If 46% don’t pay any federal taxes then they sure as hell can forget using any federally funded conveniences such as freeways, damn it!
I still call BS. Yes, those 46% do pay some payroll taxes and they obviously pay taxes that are rolled into products they buy.
However, EVERYONE who works pays those taxes. So, the difference is we are debating INCOME taxes. I wish the left would get that.
And if you want to compare apples to apples, who pays the largest percentage of property taxes? These support local schools, fire departments, and the infrastructure in your town.
The argument is at 46% (or so) do not pay Income taxes.
Also, I am tired of the folks who write “loopholes” as codeword for “cheat.”
I am a small business person. I own a photography business. I can assure you when I spend nearly $8,000 on a lens or camera body I take the full deduction for the accelerated depreciation on it. This allows me to get a refund on taxes that I pay into the system during the year.
It is a standard deduction. It has been around for a while. The equipment I am deducting is strictly for business use, and there has never been nor would there be a question about the appropriateness of the deduction.
But these people would suggest that I am “cheating” because I take a deduction.
People who do not understand the tax system, yet suggest that those who take the time to learn it are cheats, are simply idiots.
These households average 3 or more people, so the total people in America that pay no federal taxes is far above the 50% mark.
An argument I had with an Illinois government worker-drone, lefty acquaintance of mine had me floored when I finally came to the realization that people like this can, without blinking, probably find a way to tell you that water is dry, the sky is green and the answer to two plus two is whatever you want it to be.
This particular acquaintance tried to convince me that even though Texas, among other states, does not have a state income tax, they do in fact have a state income tax, just that it's just called something else.
You simply cannot argue with this kind of liar. They will say anything, no matter how plainly untrue it is, without hesitation, and without any shame.
Let’s try a novel approach- “anyone who wishes to vote must have paid local, state and federal incomes taxes as evidenced by a tax return/receipt”.
No more of the children voting themselves the cookie jar while contributing nothing to it. What juvenile approach we use in the most important function of a citizen-only those who are vested by virtue of paying into the system should have any say about where said funds go.
Poll Tax? No. Qualification, yes.
The consitution says we have a right to vote if over 18 etc, I doubt there is a controversy over establishing condtions to further clarify WHO gets to vote. We do the same with the 2A, the 5th the 1st etc etc.
I am certain a reasonable system can be established-in the old days, only land owners were entitled to vote, then the push to get the masses (something sounding leftist-ish eh?) to swing the vote towards entitlement spending (I mean, social “reform”).
Gosh, its sounding, like, like a left wing conspiracy and all!
