Jay Carney: “The White House doesn’t create jobs” (Now he tells us)
Hotair ^ | 08/04/2011 | Allahpundit

Alternate headline: “Jay Carney helpfully provides GOP with new campaign slogan.”

Carney listed legislative priorities the president believes will create jobs, including an infrastructure bank, the passage of free trade agreements, and tax cuts. But he would not say what was being done to further those goals while Congress takes a month-long vacation.

“The White House doesn’t create jobs,” Carney said, adding “the government, together — White House, Congress — creates policies that allow for greater job creation.”

Asked whether the White House could do more, Carney said “there is no silver bullet” to creating jobs — but he didn’t answer the question.

I don’t remember Gibbs being quite so eager to share credit with Congress when unemployment was ticking ever so slowly downward, which the White House naturally attributed to jobs “created or saved” by the stimulus. I do remember Obama telling Matt Lauer shortly after the stimulus passed that if he hadn’t turned the economy around in three years, he’d be a one-term president. How come he didn’t tell us at the time that “the White House doesn’t create jobs”? Ah well. Now that it’s all but certain the economy won’t rebound in time to hand O an easy win next year, consider this a sneak preview of their new two-pronged campaign message. Prong one: Republicans are, if not terrorists, close enough to terrorists that they can’t be trusted to govern. And prong two: Responsibility for our ruined economy is much more complicated than you think, average voter!

Here’s Tapper grilling Carney about what Obama’s doing right now, today, to get some sort of new economic package going in Congress to address the urgent threat of a double dip. You want to know what he’s doing today, Jake? He’s having a cookout. Seriously. Click the image to watch.

From the Joe the Plumber Fiasco to the current Jay “Chilly Con” Carney statements, all ya have to do is get these people to talk and then listen.

How many times does one need to hear “we gotta pass the bill to see what is in it” type lines to question their motives and fiduciary honor?

“The White House doesn’t create jobs...”

Then what happened to the $4 trillion he spent over the last 2-1/2 years?

This President's policies, founded in the so-called "progressive" agenda, have been and are destroying the basic concept which underlay America's Constitution--the Founders' called it "freedom of individual enterprise."

That concept was held by American citizens even prior to 1776 and 1787, with amazing results, according to Edmund Burke. If anyone doubts what free individuals can accomplish without government intervention, just read Burke's 1775 "Speech" before the British Parliament in which he documents the tremendous growth of the economy of the American colonists--already outstripping previous known productivity and wealth. Burke's speech can be read here He attributed the productivity (jobs) to the "spirit of liberty" of the colonists in America.

Much later, two of its Presidents attested to the prosperity of the Republic because the "benign" influence of government allowed such freedom of individual enterprise

"Agriculture, manufactures, commerce, and navigation, the four pillars of our prosperity, are the most thriving when left most free to individual enterprise." - Thomas Jefferson

"The enviable condition of the people of the United States is often too much ascribed to the physical advantages of their soil & climate .... But a just estimate of the happiness of our country will never overlook what belongs to the fertile activity of a free people and the benign influence of a responsible government." - James Madison

Yeah, even Obama is forced to tell the truth.

Not that Washington could “create any jobs” outside of a certain number of civil service and military service slots in the best case, and there is no way a country could live on a system like that: what is Washington going to do, tax itself? But it could refrain from doing things that are known to interfere with private concerns creating jobs.

And the winner line in the exchange is:

TAPPER: “You’re the one always saying the president can walk and chew gum at the same time. I’m asking you —”

In truth, FUBO is far from being able to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Carney is a far less believable liar than Gibbs. Gibbs was so bad he couldn’t keep a straight face. Just give Carney some time to really screw up. I’m thinking Election 2012

Didn't we just end a month of brutal fighting with democrats to stop them from RAISING TAXES?

Carney listed legislative priorities the president believes will create jobs, including an infrastructure bank, the passage of free trade agreements, and tax cuts.

“Indeed. This White House destroys jobs.”

Yup, even after the so-called “economic” stimulus.
