Tea Party Could ‘Potentially Become a Violent Movement' Thursday, August 04, 2011 By Susan Jones
(CNSNews.com) – Tea party conservatives are “pursing goals that can’t be achieved,” they are “delusional,” and they belong to “a very angry movement’ that “could, potentially become a violent movement.”
That’s according to a Stanton Peele, a psychologist and addiction expert interviewed by liberal MSNBC host Martin Bashir on Wednesday afternoon.
The Weekly Standard blogged about the interview, as did Newsbusters.
Among other eye-popping exchanges, Bashir asked the psychologist about the “effect giving people their way all of the time.” That’s a reference to tea party Republicans who stood on principle and demanded a deficit-reduction deal that included no tax hikes but offered real spending cuts.
In fact, tea party Republicans are not happy with the compromise deal that did exclude tax hikes, but did not include real spending reform.
Nevertheless, Bashir framed his question as though the tea party conservatives got their way in the debt negotiations: “How does it shape our thinking, behavior, if by being adamant and we get our way?” he asked.
Peele responded, “Well, the way I think about it is, they are pursuing goals that can't be achieved. It's sort of like a child who has some kind of fantasy, and they keep asking you to give them things to acquire that, but it's impossible to arrive at the goal that they want. The idyllic paths that they are pursuing probably never existed and certainly (are) not something we can reach right now.”
Bashir continued: “So you're saying that they are delusional about the past and adamant about the future?”

Delusional. What’s more likely is that SEIU and its thugs will continue to be a “violent movement.”
IMHO, tea partiers are not “pursuing goals that cannot be achieved”, they are attempting to “return to a state that was achieved in the late 1700’s”.
We have already been there - we are just trying to get back.
Bashir asked the psychologist about the “effect giving people their way all of the time.”We're such little children. We're so honored and happy to have The Party looking out for us, taking care of us, and making sure we are not over-indulged.
These people don’t understand that the Tea Party represents every American who stands for the Bill of Rights and the principals set forth by the Founding Fathers of the US Constitution.

Mr. Bashir has a lot to be humble about - evidently.

This is so predictable and entirely the work of the panicked Obama media campaign. The trap is being laid for some of us to break off to a third party run that can only keep Obama in the driver’s seat. That now is their singular goal. Peel 6% of us off and he can re-elect himself.

I suppose the very same observations could have been written about the participants in the _original_ Boston Tea Party, back about 1773 or so.
And what happened a few years’ later?
Was that a bad or a good thing?

Roughly equal probability...
It’s not pretty when liberals think they have lost. They have to look for a reason even if that reason is “delusional.”
And violent? Only if we must and as a last resort.
