For crafting a complex last minute resolution to a crisis solely of its own making, no one in Washington should really feel good about the debt deal. While some on the right and many on the left are not happy with the deal, even President Obama and the congressional leaders he negotiated with have said it's not the perfect bill. But there's a possible silver lining in this debacle for the White House and Democrats.
Here's why: while it may look to many in his party as a raw deal, Mr. Obama succeeded in showing leadership in the end by brokering any deal to solve the crisis, showed he was willing to compromise and take less than he wanted, and showed he was serious about tackling the looming debt crisis facing the country.

Wishful thinking on CBS’ part, but we all know the score. Obama lost a bunch of losers on the left, and did nothing to attract any rational votes.
Obama is a pri** and doesn’t give a damn about the people. How dare he threaten us...which is what he did and has been doing all along. He’s a dictator.
As soon as the approval polls results are back CBS will tell us.
So this will be spun as Obama’s grand bargain? Obama didn’t have anything to do with it, did he? I thought Congressmen of both parties worked it out, while Obama sits there and takes credit for his great negotiating skills.
CBS future headline: Apocalypse Could Boost Obama Approval Ratings.
yes...and See BS has proof GWB went AWOL in Alabama...
On what freaking planet could anybody have just arrived from to think Obama had anything to do with anything that happened?
MSM is just one big positive advertisement for Obama and the Democratic Party.
This is why we should not have allowed the debt limit to be increased.
Unfortunately this was true with Clinton in 1996 and will be true with Obama if this-is signed into law. As I posted yesterday : Next year Obama will campaign on :” My administration passed a historical huge ‘big deal’ deficit reduction package that tackles one of this countries biggest problems, after a decade of Republicans running up the nation's credit card”.
Republicans options? Push Obama for more concessions, make Democrats squeal, make it hurt. House Republicans should send a small debt increase of $50B to the Senate to buy time for the House to modify/improve the Senate bill, just my opinion today. More some cuts into FY12 too.
Delusional.
Here comes the spin!
“See BS” grinds out the WH propaganda
The stock market, unemployment figures and other economic indicators will speak for themselves, on the emperor’s new clothes
Congress handing Barky a $17 TRILLION debt ceiling wrapped in ribbons is not going to be a very pretty gift, in the eyes of the toiling hobbits
they hope.
Wishful thinking. This is a GIANT step to winning 2012 as far as mesmerized 2008 Rats jumping the sinking Obama raft. It also provides Charles with a month’s worth of Dummie Funnies.
It hasn’t even been voted on and the cheerleaders are already at it! Amazing...
See...see...we told you he was a centrist.
