Via Mediaite, eight intensely annoying minutes for your Debt-Ceiling Sunday viewing pleasure while we await the final terms of a deal. The good news? No terrorist analogies here from Don Lemon, a notable exception to the lefts new New Tone. The bad news? He seems deeply, truly, abidingly uninterested in the policy question at issue, which is whether we can afford a step toward solving Americas debt problem as modest as Reids or Boehners plan given the magnitude of the crisis. Hed rather talk about the short-term political fallout of the standoff in Congress through the lens of which side is more willing to compromise and therefore, supposedly, less to blame. From that perspective, this is actually a dynamite sneak preview of how the media will react on Wednesday if todays deal falls apart and we end up hitting the ceiling. If you want to ask someone why theyve resorted to desperate measures, at least let em explain why they think these are desperate times, no? Especially since, per Paul, these measures arent as desperate as they might be.
Speaking of which, your exit question via Steve Hayes: What would this deal have looked like if the GOP really refused to compromise?

All they did is kick the can down the road. We get to go thru all this again in a couple years.
That's OK. When the Republicans are back in charge and Exxon's profits are front page news again, we'll know who to blame.
But, the trajectory has changed.
If Michele Bachmann wins the conservatives will be attacking the elite. If Romney wins the GOP dies. If Ron Paul wins the GOP still dies. Only Cain is it other than Bachmann at this point.
I don’t know if that is really the case. They cut the baseline, but they really did not cut spending. To me, it looks more like they just increased the debt ceiling.
Paul should have shot back “I’m happy. How about you Mr. Obama Ass Licker?”
Unless we can win the election 2011. The President we have is a guy who simply wants to grow government. With him at the helm we will wind up looking like Detoit.
Don Lemon.... WHO? What a control freak!
YOU WILL ANSWER MY QUESTION THE WAY I WANT YOU TO OR I WILL TALK OVER YOU UNTILL YOU DO. With all due respect, of course.

Yes. Even the Ryan plan does nothing but slow down the growth of spending. I fear that the only thing that actually will be cut is defence spending. And Medicare, but that money will be used to implement Obama care.
CNN is unwatchable any day of the week. They’re worse on the weekends. Jabba The Hut hosts their signature program “State Of The Union” and then BET takes over and runs the news department.

I’ll bet Rand can sleep easy at night
Never will understand why republicans go on these shows...never will
