What you say looks logical until you consider a poll from CNN(yeah I know the commie net) that shows over 50% blame us for the debt ceiling deal not going through.
It’s probably too late, but next time the GOP needs to consistently use terms people in the general public understand.
debt ceiling = credit limit
debt = amount we owe
deficit = amount we put on credit card each month
Because we are not using terms everyone in the country is familiar with, it is easy for the media and the democrats to confuse people.
The way I see it, neither the majority of the American public nor the Congress are "logical," in the sense of having a sense of independent responsibility. The focus is on the here and now, and on short term gratification. If "doing what is right" limits the gratification, then "doing what is right" becomes a casualty.
Someday, the piper will be paid. The debt will come due, the consequences will be inescapable.
Maybe CNN did get those results but what I’m saying now by making such a big deal of this debt ceiling raise the dems and Obama have focused the public on to the economy.
They will now lose because their plans don’t work. As a matter of course, every day removed from Bush is another day more the dems own it, and that over 50% continues to erode. But this major fight by Obama means that the trickle of ownership jumps way up for them.
They really aren’t going to help the economy; only hurt it more. I believe that in my heart of hearts. And because I know that it is true, I think more and more—not less—will start to wake up and smell the coffee.
We’re both old enough to remember well what happened in the late 70’s into 1980. Reagan didn’t look so good in the early poll numbers. Yet Jimmy couldn’t win because as time went on, Reagan’s question, “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” took its toll.
It was true then and it is true now. And unlike Reagan, I’m also predicting the new Republican president (sure hope it’s Sarah!) will have a Republican House AND SEnate to do business with, while the dems and their media allies will be wailing and gnashing their teeth in the wilderness.
When Bret asked Kevin McCarthy about that CNN poll I practically gagged. They don’t take a poll they manufacture them to suit Master Soros’ agenda. I automatically adjust their polls by 20 points to correct for their bias.
In 2012 the GOP candidate is going to be the outsider running against the DC machine. The Zero Dems have to defend their running DC for the last 4 years.
Rightly or wrongly the President is held to account for the state of the Economy, not the Congress. 2012 is going to be a referendum on Zero, not the GOP House
