Norway Displays Unity at Attack Victim’s Funeral
nytimes ^ | July 29, 2011 | Todd Heisler

Mr. Breivik wrote the attacks were necessary to spark a war that would cleanse Europe of its Muslim immigrants, who he argued were destroying the continent’s Christian heritage and culture. Most Europeans consider his methods abominable, his anti-immigrant ideas, extreme, are in tune with a growing current of xenophobia in Europe.

Ms. Rashid spent her brief life fighting against these sentiments. She was leader of Nesodden branch of the liberal Labor Party’s youth wing, a major political force in Norway. Members of the party’s youth wing typically go on to high-ranking government positions.

In articles and speeches at political events she denounced racism, discrimination against immigrants in Norway, whose integration into society she contended was possible and vital.

“There is no doubt that Oslo would grind to a halt if it went one day without the work of immigrants,” Ms. Rashid wrote last year in the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten. “Let Norway use the resources of its immigrants. Give us time to integrate, preferably without discrimination.”

Though she was an Iraqi Kurd who came here as a child, Ms. Rashid wanted to stretch the limits of the country’s blond and blue-eyed identity, to help redefine what it means to be Norwegian.

It was a mission that an anti-immigrant extremist sought to thwart when he killed Ms. Rashid, 18, and at least 76 others

Muslim imam and female Christian minister presided over a ceremony that drew hundreds of mourners to a small 12th-century church in Ms. Rashid’s hometown, about 25 miles from Oslo, the capital. Her coffin was draped with the red, white and green Kurdish flag, as well as Norway’s red, white and blue.

On a hill overlooking the waters of the Oslo fjord, Norwegians, Kurds and others vowed to honor her life by defying the man responsible for her death.

Mourners attended the funeral for Bano Rashid, one of those killed in Oslo last week. Ms. Rashid, 18, had intended to run for City Council in September.

This is typical new york times. They take one muslim iraqi girl that was very well integrated in Norwegian society and try to fool fools that she was typical.

She is atypical for muslim women in this country. Most who insist on wearing hijabs, refuse to work, and avail themselves of everything the social welfare net can offer.

70 % of my salary in the oil industry goes to direct and indirect taxation here in Norway. While unemployment rates for muslim migrants in this country is 54%. I can only hope that when I am eligible for a pension(age 67) that the system wont be broke because of all the freeloaders.

The NYT does the same with the dream act. They take the most talented, smartest illegal there is and pretend that all the others are like him.

Looks like Christianity is toast in Norway and they’re giving away their cultural identity as well. When an 18 year old Muslim immigrant is seeking to run for office, it ain’t about affirming Norway and its traditions - it about HOPE and CHANGE Islamic style.

The idiot that killed these people was just that - an idiot and a killer. However, to ignore the pressures that defy cultural norms and national identities is to wave red flags with calculated deliberation. Cultural identities are what make a nation a nation and we all know that national identities and borders are bad news for internationalist elites. So, multiculturalism is the order of the day. The globalists want and need incidents like this to further throttle outbreaks of national identity and cultural consciousness and to ensure that all the newly compliant sheep put on their nice striped pajamas.

"Not that there's anything wrong with that."

This propaganda from the NYSlimes exactly validates what the attacker of the labor party said in his manifesto. The media is all for the suicide of Norwegian culture and idenity, and essentially the suicide of all western culture.

Perhaps I should not say suicide, because most of the people of Norway were never given a clear choice. They have been continually lied to as they have been led to this slow execution.

That is very true. I have lived here on and off for 24 years and you should see what many of the cultural elitists here are calling for now.

Censorship of the internet so that right wing new sites cannot be accessed or anything else deemed offensive to the muilticultural agenda.

Alot of Norwegians are not that proficient in English so they cant formulate opinions other than what they hear on NRK.

Oil production in this country is going down down down. They can afford all pandering to minorities now, but I wonder what it will be like in another 20 years.

‘’’Mr. Breivik, a self-described Christian crusader’’’

The New York Times elevates Breivik’s Christian status to a new level.

In the latest projections, in 20 years, Norway will be 20% Muslim. It will be too late by then.

“Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg attended a service at a mosque in Oslo, drawing wild applause when he said “Salaam aleikum” in greeting the audience.”

Salaam aleikum = ‘peace be upon you too’ (in Arabic)

I think it will be very interesting to see what happens here now on the political scene.

Alot of righteous indignation we are being bombarded with now but I noticed that alot of folks are joining the anti immigrant party.

I just hope I can qualify for a pension in another 5 years so I can get out and not pay these ridiculous prices. 25% VAT, 14 NOK for a liter of gas. I have never lived in a place where you pay so much tax, and get so little in return.

Better watch it, big brother may be watching me. 1984 in Norway.

Yes, it will be interesting to see the election results in Sept.

I expect the anti-immigrant party will do much better than expected.

How interesting that the Iraqi flag occupies the place of honor while the only representation of Norway is the bunting in the national colors, much like the red, white, and blue bunting at used car lots.

Not enough light has been cast on the purpose of the Labor party camp, although the NYT obliquely references it by saying many attendants go on to assume leadership positions in the Labor party. The camp's purposes are; indoctrination; talent spotting; fast tracking the talent, and culling the herd of the non-doctrinaire thinkers. Nowhere have I seen the proportion of muslim attendees, I suspect they are disproportionately higher than they are in the general population.

Where are the offspring of those that valiantly resisted the Nazi occupiers and their puppet Quisling?

Maybe it is the constant selling we are exposed to while young in America, a load of manure sold as the miracle fertilizer seems a rather more obvious ploy to some of us. Then again, we did elect Obama so about half the population even here will buy the well pitched line. I doubt the people of Norway will realize that tragedy has been used to sell them a steaming pile of miracle fertilizer until it is too late.

As far as those attending this yoof camp. Many were immigrants and offspring of immigrants. The yoofs who were gunned down were not all pale white ethnic Norwegians by any means. This fact was mentioned in the NYT maybe 10 days ago

Brevik was not just gunning down his own kind
