Boehner’s bridge to nowhere.
Plan C = Cave
Fricken idiots! The Republican House controls the purse strings. Why give it away? Act like you have a pair!!
The Republican party itself hangs in the balance.
Boner’s bill doesn’t get passed tonight and suddenly the DIMS, who have been relatively quiet all day, are coming out of the woodwork with all kinds of news?
Something smells here.
This is all such a bunch of hyped up nonsense - on both sides of the isle. I can’t believe people are falling for this charade.
Beware of tweaks bearing grifts.......
If the republicans can’t pass the Boehner plan, there are enough soft republicans in the house that they will be able to pass whatever the senate sends over, with the democrats.
That is the likely outcome if conservatives stand strong against the Boehner plan — a Reid plan that “saves the day”, passed by democrats in the house, and signed by the democrat president, with 30 liberal republicans in the house.
And the conservatives will scream, the democrats will “get the credit” or “take the blame” depending on your point of view.
This is the natural outcome of the position of the republican study group in the house. It’s not a surprise, and all I can say is that I certainly don’t understand what the end game is for conservatives by this plan. Well, I know that for 24 or so conservatives, they get to brag that they held their principles. FOr the conservative movement, maybe we lose the chance to take the senate, and Obama gets re-elected.
And we don’t get as many cuts as under Boehner, we don’t get to vote again on debt next year, and we dont’ get credit for fixing the problem. We don’t repeal Obamacare, and we get two more liberal judges on the supreme court.
Maybe that is a good result for purity. I wish someone would explain to me how 30 more years of legal abortion, increased taxes, higher spending, and a democratic senate and presidency, is actually good for conservatives.
Plan C = Republicans and democrats steal more money from those of us who don’t want it taken away.....
Wait, that’s the same plan they been using for 100 years...
Change we can believe in now is the change you get to keep.
“Cut, cap, and balance” has turned into “punt, pass, and kick”.
Boehner will be happy to be Minority Leader again so he can’t be blamed for anything.
Part Three is the sticking point, and that is what "trigger" mechanisms are in place to incentivize action by this special committee to make sure it is not just yet another Washington commission that ends up doing nothing.
For example, Democrats want to make sure that if Republicans walk from those talks, there might be some tax increases that would kick in automatically -- giving the GOP incentive to stay and work out a deal.
At various phases of this debate, Republicans have tried to tie implementation of the president's health care reform bill to this process -- so perhaps the individual mandate would be stripped out if Democrats walked from the talks
If this happens it looks like the 2 part deal is going to happen, much to Obama's dismay.
The "poison pill" of attaching the Obamacare mandate was something Boehner tried to introduce with Obama last week and was nixed.
However, it looks like Obama may also cave on this in exchange for the "tax hike" condition for the Dems.
Plan C = Crap
How can Obama be working on plan “C” when plan “A” hasn’t even been determined yet?
Bend Over and —STAND BY FOR THE RAM—, We are about to get screwed without lubricant.
Looks like Rush was right after all.
'This plan is no compromise, republicans will not vote for this. Republicans will not vote for this. Republicans will not vote for this.
