I hope you're wrong but if you're right then Boehner has just spent his last days as Speaker.
Boehner should just do nothing if Reid rejects it. No negotiations, no new bills.

I couldn't care less how Republicans come out of this if it's the liberal spineless ones like Boehner and the rest of the Republican leadership. If they aren't going to use their power to save this country then why should I care if they lose power in the next election? They shouldn't be passing any legislation that wouldn't have a significant and positive impact on the nation. It might not pass the Senate, but why is it always the Republicans who decide to give into the demands of liberals when it comes to these things? There can't be a compromise between Conservatives and liberals who insist on nation killing policies that are completely out of control. All the Republican leadership seems to care about is trying to put the blame of something that's destructive to our nation on the democrats when they have the power to stop the damn thing in the first place.

The Republicans with the most power aren't Conservative, and only pretend to be at times to keep their power. Just imagine what these guys would be doing without the pressure of the newly elected Conservatives and the rejuvenated Conservative movement. Republicans need to pass significant legislation regardless of it's chance to become law before giving into liberal demands and passing things that have no real impact, but will be used by both sides to pretend they did something great; if the American voters reject the acts that are needed to save this country then we are doomed anyway. If Republicans can't act Conservative, or are too afraid to act Conservative, then I don't care about supporting them. I just hope the newly elected Conservatives don't cave even though it already looks like many are.

- Rep. Jeff Duncan, (R., S.C.) has been a no vote. He emerged from a discussion in Mr. Boehner’s office and said he’ll have to pray on it.

- South Carolina Republican Mick Mulvaney, also says he’ll pray about the vote.

* Palin to House Republicans: ‘We Little Folk Are Watching’
* by Danny Yadron
* Add a Comment

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin issued a thinly veiled threat in a Facebook post Thursday afternoon for House Republican freshmen who would vote to raise the debt ceiling: primary challenges.

The warning came about 90 minutes before House Republicans delayed a vote on a debt-ceiling bill as they tried to round up last-minute support.

“Out here in proverbial politico flyover country, we little folk are watching the debt ceiling debate with great interest and concern,” Ms. Palin writes. “P.S. Everyone I talk to still believes in contested primaries.”

The former Alaska governor, who has said she will decide on a possible presidential campaign by September, referenced a letter she wrote to all Republican freshmen in November 2010. The Facebook post includes a copy of that letter with sections in bold that Mr. Palin feels “are especially relevant to the current discussion.”

Freep this poll

Do you think the debt ceiling should be extended beyond 2012?
Yes, extending the debt ceiling short-term means Congress will not focus on other issues, like jobs

The debt ceiling shouldn’t be raised at all

Not if it’s merely a gimmick to get around the 2012 election

I’m for it if a long-term deal for cutting spending has been reached

No, a small window for the debt to increase means Americans can measure how well Washington is doing cutting the budget

Make the Rats reject it and make them own it.

What does that do to solve the coming destruction of this country?
Get a majority in the senate, only to have McLaim, Snowe, Lugar, Graham, McConnell etc tie it in knots again. U do remember the 14 Gangsters don’t u. We had a majority then too.

Hope is a good thing, but history does not support your approach.

Well I think that it is a false choice to say that reps are either
a) sticking to principles or
b) caving

By rejecting this bill in the House, control of the situation is returned to Obama and Dems. The Rs will be blamed for the bad economy, unemployment, and of course the constant stories that will be continuously played on MSM about some poor soul who the Rs are hurting. Dems win big in '12. Tea Party is damaged and so is the Country.

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory - rejecting this bill would be just that.

The money that isn't spent is good - but do you know how much will still be spent?

Passing this bill keeps the House in control - including Tea party - which we need lots more of in '12.

I am thankful for the 25, but that is absolutely pathetic that there are that few people who will keep their word and stand like patriots.

Well you are forgetting the Democrats in Washington standing in solidarity with the 25.
