Boehner to GOP members: 'Get your ass in line'

Washington (CNN) – House Speaker John Boehner leveled tough words at fellow Republicans Wednesday, telling conservatives who are unhappy his bill doesn't go far enough to "Get your ass in line."

Boehner's admonishment came during a closed-door meeting, during which House GOP leaders sought to rally support for their debt bill, according to two Republican sources who attended the meeting.

The Ohio Republican told members he was working hard and didn't want to turn around and not see an army behind him.

House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia also said it was time to pull together and pass the House GOP debt bill, instead of feeding a storyline that pits Republican against Republican.

But the meeting turned into exactly that-a venting session with Republicans turning on each the other-and exposing an ugly split among the rank and file.

Look, the Republicans under Boehner have won. Obama is marginalized and even Reid is planning to save $2.7 trillion. If we pull off a deal at the last minute before U.S. bond ratings fall - even for the brief period they would - it would make Obama look even more ineffective.

We are winning because we are reversing the spending model of government. Like any big machine, there's a lot of inertia to overcome.

Boehner is absolutely WORTHLESS! We have got to get rid of these people who just can't stand the thought of not being able to spend more and more money! $850 billion over 10 years???? Are you kidding me? We are spending $1.5 trillion more per year than we are taking in. Isn't that $15 trillion more dollars in debt over 10 years while we're cutting just $850 billion over 10 years? Who in their RIGHT mind would VOTE for a deal that BAD! Speaker Boehner...if this is the best you can do, you should resign as Speaker and then resign your seat.
