GrowPAC, a group founded by former New York Senate candidate David Malpass, will air radio ads in Iowa urging people to write Perry's name onto the Ames straw poll ballot.

The 60-second ads will air in stations in the markets surrounding Ames, officials said.
While Iowa GOP officials decided not to include Perry's name on the straw poll ballot, they permitted a write-in slot that at least makes it possible for Perry to register support. The write-in option is being allowed for the first time, and GrowPAC's Malpass made clear they plan to make the most of it.

[July 25, 2011]...........Miner said people who know Perry understand that two things he feels strongly about are states’ rights and the institution of traditional marriage.
“Nothing has changed with the governor’s philosophy here,” he said.
Besides confirming Perry’s support of a federal constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman, Miner pointed to the governor’s state record. Perry supported the Texas Defense of Marriage Act and a state constitutional amendment defining traditional marriage, Miner noted.

The Legislature had given sole authority to the Dept of State Health Services, under Perry’s control in the Executive branch, to mandate vaccines. The Dept. Mandated Hepatitis A and B, and chicken pox vacciines without legislative fuss. Perry used the order to make it easier for parents to opt out.
