The only changes contemplated for SS affect those who are younger than 55 years of age. If your mother is 55 years or older, there will be no changes to SS.

We need to slowly increase the retirement age for SS - by raising the eligibility age by one MONTH every year over the next 24 years. This minor change will save trillions of dollars and protect SS for another generation.

Boehner will speak up more on SS if BO raises the threat to seniors again. We have plenty of money coming in each month to cover debt service, military expenditures, SS, Medicare, and more.

K I just told her, she said those who are under 55 who are getting social security are actually getting disability checks because they are disabled, is that true? My Mom is a registered Dem but she has been voting Republican for years, she can’t stand Obama but the second he mentioned social security tonight she was already nervous about it..that rat bastard scares old people to agree with his plan, its ridiculous

I am so sick and tired of Obama’s scare tactics. Actually,I believe they border on BLACKMAIL. He is trying to frighten Americans into calling their representatives and cry about a situation that will not happen. Unless, of course, Obama and Geither decide to pay government employees with the social security money that the government takes in, rather than pay SS recipients, and the military. I truly believe that behind closed doors he is probably telling the GOP that is exactly what he will do an if they don’t agree with the Dems...thus, Obama is probably guilty of BLACKMAILING the Republicans.
