During a discussion with college students at the University of Maryland last week, President Obama compared his current struggles with the debt ceiling debate negotiations with Abraham Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation.
How, by declaring war on the American People?
Besides, Lincoln didn't cause slavery.
If that was true we’d still have slaves!
Hussein the racist plays the race card. What a surprise.
This is downright scary.
Lincoln imposed the Emancipation Proclamation on half the country because we were actively at war with them. Not that it was not the right thing to do, of course.
Does Obama really consider himself to be at war with the two-thirds of the American People who support Cut, Cap and Balance?
You forgot that for these efforts, he wishes to also have a 10,000 sq ft greco-roman temple erected in his honor right in the middle of the National Mall.
Waaaaaaait a minute. Or are you just playing with my emotions?
Do you think bimbo Obummer knows that Lincoln’s plan included returning them to their home land.
“One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell ‘em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small
When men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving slow
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's “off with her head!”
Remember what the dormouse said;
“Keep YOUR HEAD
“
You’ve got the analogy down, in fact there’s even more parallels, they just have yet to be seen.
Regarding Lincoln’s non-issue with slavery (at least pertaining to the war), from Freeper “loveliberty2” a quote on this thread (#109):
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2743615/posts?q=1&;page=101
“For those who are discussing the role of the Civil War and slavery, excerpts from Abraham Lincoln’s “Address at Sanitary Fair, Baltimore, Maryland April 18, 1864” may contain some interesting observations by Lincoln himself on the subject:
“The change within Baltimore is part only of a far wider change. When the war began, three years ago, neither party, nor any man, expected it would last till now. Each looked for the end, in some way, long ere to-day. Neither did any anticipate that domestic slavery would be much affected by the war. But here we are; the war has not ended, and slavery has been much affected-—how much needs not now to be recounted. So true is it that man proposes, and God disposes.”
What a lying POS...first, his OWN Debt Commission last December suggested 4.2 trillion in cuts...he rejected his own commission.
Next, he offers up a budget that is so bad that the DEMOCRAT SENATE rejects it 97-0.
He then offers up a “budget” that is so fuzzy the head of the CBO says, “We don’t score speeches”.
A year ago he said we should NOT RAISE taxes in a recession, NOW he says we MUST...
Lincoln was a leader and a brave soul...this guy isn’t worthy of polishing Lincoln’s top hat.
Yeah, I’m sure Lincoln stonewalled every proposal sent his way, and during when nearing an agreement during negotiations, made new demands.
We’re seeing the reactions of a petulant man-child who’s being told “no” for the first time in his life. Already, he was incapable of telling the truth, but now... with the pressure on.. his lies get even more outlandish.
I just finished a biography on Abraham Lincoln. Little known facts:
Abraham Lincoln played 387 rounds of golf during The Civil War.
Abraham Lincoln attended 476 fund-raisers during The Civil War.
Abraham Lincoln told Americans to eat their peas during The Civil War.
Abraham Lincoln hired 1400 staffers to run The White House during The Civil War and paid most of them over 100,000 dollars a year.
Abraham Lincoln started two foreign wars during The Civil War.
Abraham Lincoln took over the Horse and Buggy Industry during The Civil War.
Barack Obama is a virtual carbon copy of Abraham Lincoln. We should count our lucky stars.
And it just so happens that for the first time since the late 1850s we have both a huge economic battle and a huge moral battle coming to a head at the same time.
Halting unlimited Federal spending that allows the government to enslave your children and grandchildren along with keeping the government from claiming the right to kill granny when she's no longer useful to the state sound like causes that are worth dying for every bit as much as the ending of slavery was.
When you toss in the mass murder of infants, well, there's just no reason to not go to the wall if that's what it takes. Pray that isn't what it takes.
Free association/stream of consciousness from the Führer? No way that was on the teleprompter.
“Do you think bimbo Obummer knows that Lincolns plan included returning them to their home land.”
The title is misleading. Obama more implied that he was going to make personal favors and exemptions to those that support him, and punish his enemies. He really only brought up slavery to say the Lincoln threw the union slaves under the bus, for his (Lincoln’s) own goals/machinations (ie. the EP freeing only southern slaves), but that he did it for good reason: that he couldn’t get it done another way (so thereby had to break the rules, ie. Constitution).
He is, in my opinion, telegraphing his own moves. Remember Obama has done only what he has said he would. The problem is either people didn’t understand or didn’t believe he would. This is his telegraph.
Lincoln didn’t creat slavery. Obama created this debt crisis. BIG DIFFERENCE.
“Lincoln killed off a nice portion of the American people.”
Ah, yes - but aren’ you now glad that he had the guts to “save the union.” /s
I wish every Republican who goes on one of those talking head shows would start every answer to every question with that little factoid.
Delusions of narcissism are in full swing. He has plunged into his own reflection in the water.
