WASHINGTON, DC (July 14, 2011) – The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is investigating fraud and abuse in the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act (FECA) program. Specifically, GAO is looking for information on cases in which federal employees are currently abusing workers compensation benefits.

For example, fraud schemes might include a beneficiary working a second job, overstating their workers’ compensation claim, or collecting benefits for a deceased individual. Anyone with information regarding fraud or abuse of the FECA program by federal employees is encouraged to contact us at workerscompfraud@gao.gov. All information about individuals who contact us will be kept confidential.

I don't think this applies to Dick Holder's people.

I was a DOD civilian employee. When I retired I had over one year of sick leave and I left it there.

I had an electrician working in my hospital who was from another organization and upon his retirement, he went to a civilian doctor and got the Dr to write a paper claiming he was suffering from stress and was going to put him on sick leave and recommended one year before he thought he would be able to come back to work.

So it does happen.

32 year DOD civilian employee here. I busted a Navy LtCdr on active duty, stationed at the base where he was “injured” as a firefighter years before, AND collecting 75 percent of his firefighter pay (tax free) because he couldn’t work.

He had an odd name that stuck in my head from the workers comp rolls. When I was giving a class to superviors of civilians on workers comp someone introducted me to him.

Imagine the CO’s shock when I brought him the evidence. But, he didn’t even get kicked out of the service and I’m not even sure he had to pay the money back.

By the way, both he and his wife obtained law degrees while he was drawing the workers comp. His alleged “injury”.....
back strain. The biggest bunch of waste, fraud and abuse there ever was.....................FECA.

My husband used to be president of a cooperative they had so many WC claims it was nuts. They’d run to the emergency room for a hangnail. A lot of them did it to have a day off. So my husband decided to hold a drawing every week when there were no injuries for a hundred bucks and injuries dropped to almost nothing.

Patients trying to make you an accomplice to their fraud. The exact reason I stopped seeing worker’s comp cases in Southern Cal.

Look no further than Bart Stupak. the traitor that helped pass the health care bill... He is retired with a “disability” from the police. He’s a democrat, therefore a lazy bum..

In the small county where I live now, disability is the number one source of income. Like someone said earlier. They’ve got it down to an art form.
