WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama has formally repealed the ban on gays serving openly in the military.
Administration officials say Obama on Friday signed a certification ending the 17-year-old "don't ask don't tell" policy.

The distruction of one more of America’s greatest institutions has now begun. Shortly, many will retire rather than remain. Others will not join and others will simply fade away. I hope that many will hold on thinking that in two years this will be reversed. If they do not, there will be a crisis in staffing within the military.
I don’t remember the House and Senate voting on the repeal.
Did They?
If not, how can Obama repeal a law debated and voted on by Congress years ago?
Not really, the lefty ambition of bringing back the draft will be waiting in the wings.
There is a reason men and women are separated in the US military.
Being in the armed forces is about coming together as a single unit to achieve objectives. It’s not a place for dating and hooking up.
People who are in love do stupid things and take needless chances. In combat situations, that can get people killed.
Case in point: Bradley Manning who leaked US military secrets to the entire world because he broke up with his boyfriend.
You are right, and the American people are wrong again. Can they ever learn?
"Come out, come out wherever you are!"
The military isn’t having any problems with recruiting. This is just pandering to the LGBT community.
Not to mention those that are openly gay serving in combat units. When they get captured, or sent in first etc. I suspect that this will be an experiment that doesn’t end well.
My son goes into the marines next month. I doubt that very many gays really want to join the military. The symbolism of this is disturbing. Don’t ask don’t tell really was very fair and this is just encouraging problems.
I am sure they will still be banned from wearing uniforms at political events though, like gay rights parades?? /s
So on what basis were the female soldiers forbidden to be with us in our barracks? That one question leads to another one that will sum up why gays should not be allowed in the military; Is there any difference between girls showering with boys, and gay men showering with other men?
What a sham our government is when they say they performed extensive studies and interviews about the "gays in the military" subject. I guess that included asking soldiers if they had a problem with gays. In this politically correct screwed up world, what did you expect them to say? I hate gays? Place enough pressure on a society and you can count on getting the answers you want.(Do you like King Henry?)
The American people are big supporters of this, especially on both coasts and the Great Lakes. In their view, they are “not bigoted” and have voted for this policy for many election cycles now. And there’s no going back. The people are true believers of big government programs and all the ramifications.
The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act NDAA is supposed to have language in it that ammends the UCMJ to legalize homosexual sodomy. We need to lobby the GOP members of congress to NOT let this go through.
IF the UCMJ is not ammended, then some chance might remain that a new CIC could reverse this nonsense.
If he can somehow be reelected, watch how quickly he restarts the draft.
WJC=Sodomy in The White House.
BHO=Sodomy in The Pentagon.
Great legacies.
Beware the Government Booty Call Complex
Congress voted on repeal in December or January. Remember Sen. Toomey of PA was a big gay backer and deceived some of his original suppoerters.
Yes, but it’s a lesson the American people understand and endorse.
More “sensitivity training” coming right up!
And the Military is history!
It must have pissed me off so completely that I blocked it from memory.
