Gang of six plan raises taxes by $3 trillion
Washington Examiner ^ | 07/19/11 | Conn Carroll

Posted on 07/19/2011 1:44:00 PM PDT by Qbert

The Gang of Six “Bipartisan Plan to Reduce Our Nation’s Deficits” claims their tax reforms would be scored by the Congressional Budget Office as a $1.5 trillion net cut. But no details are provided on how they arrive at this number other than saying they will abolish the Alternative Minimum tax. So how can this plan claim to be a “balanced approach” (which means higher revenues), yet also claim to be a $1.5 trillion tax cut?

This probably means they are using a CBO baseline that assumes the AMT continues as written today and that the current Bush rates expire. Last August, the CBO said those policies would amount to a $4.8 trillion tax hike. Which means the the Gang of Six plan probably raises taxes by about $3+ trillion over current rates.

Our POS RINO Chambliss is in on the gang. He is a card carrying moron. He could not find his azz with both hands. This guy is so bad its hard to believe we are enduring him. If Chambliss is in on anything you can bet its not in the interest of the any of us.

Don't do it.

“Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense”

October 29, 1941, Winston Churchill

My favorite quote. Although conditions in America make us so nauseated we want to vomit, the people so close to communisim we can smell it and the leftist media beating the progressive mantras...when everything is dismal is when we have to remember the great Winston Churchill and with the grace of God we will prevail! If not, see ya on the other side:)

paraphrasing Sen. Rand Paul on Hannity radio-

GANG OF SIX proposal is no proposed legislation at all-—enormously complicated. Translating the proposal, it merely directs committees to recommend proposals.

The President has added more debt than all previous presidents combined.

GANG OF SIX proposal-—another deceptive circle fest.

A ‘clean’ debt ceiling increase would be better than this.

Riots in the streets are in our future.

Finally, a practical use for the Urban Ghillie Suit.

Only half-joking.

Winning the House was a bad thing .We would have been better off with the Dems passing what they want, watch the economy completely self destruct and then throw them all out next year.

This is not the way to motivate hiring and investment by business owners. IRA accounts are one of the few ways that business owners can get relief from the heavy personal taxation by Washington and state governments. The right way to create jobs and investment is to: 1) completely repeal the outrageously costly and intrusive Obamacare law, 2) cut the top personal income tax rate and corporate tax rate to no more than 29% and make dividend payments a tax deductable expense in the same way interest payments are subtracted from taxable corporate income, 3) retain IRA accounts as they exist now, 4) raise the ridiculously low $3,000 limit on deductable capital losses by individuals which screws over millions of investors by forcing an incorrect higher calculation of their taxable income (raise it to at least $50,000), and then start cutting back spending on the social security and medicare Ponzi schemes which pay out far more to most individuals than they ever paid into the system (even when adding in inflation and a return on investment.)

Those reforms will reward hard work and success, instead of punishing work and success, and get you some hiring and investment by business owners and large corporations. This stupid, inadequate, and misguided proposal by the “Gang of Six” won’t do anything to restart the US economy.

I can’t believe any Republicans support this idiotic proposal. They need to get out of the lofty luxury of the senate chamber and go talk to business owners in the real world about what they want from Washington and what kind of reforms would motivate them to do more hiring and investing.

And Yes, as you can tell from my posts, we entrepreneurs are really angry at Washington and most of the state governments!

Jessie had a gang. Spanky had a gang. Capone had a gang. The Crips, Bloods, and Hells Angels were gangs.

What image is Congress trying to impart by allowing small groups of congressmen to be labeled as gangs?????

Not very parliamentary IMHO.....

This thread amuses me with its clever replies...repeal the AMT if it will ensure Obama’s defeat. Defeat the repeal if it will ensure Obama’s defeat. Understand that the goal here is to ensure 1 more year of a broken economy TO DEFEAT OBAMA.

Here's what I just emailed my Senator (that asswipe Champbliss)

Senator,

I was forced to vote for you last election because of your opponent. I, frankly, have been very, very displeased with your performance and I am a lifelong Republican Voter and above all a Conservative.

Stop interfering with the House Budget Process; it is their purview, your Senate only agrees with or amends whatever they send you and they have the final legislative option before Obama postures with it.

I DO NOT LIKE your collaborating with DEMOCRATs on this and I will definitely vote against you in ANY opportunity I get if you persist. BACK OFF!

We, Georgia Conservatives put you back there to stop Obama. If you screw this up, I'll vote for the Democrat next time - I swear to God, if he lets me live that long.

He’s a backstepper for sure. A power hungry beaten puppy begging for approval from the Washington Establishment. He and his butt boy Isakson were immediately on board with McCain and Bush on the immigration amnesty effort. They got bitch slapped so hard they had to change their tune. They apparently haven’t changed their hearts. Screw them both. I’d almost rather have a Democrat in place of them because I know up front they’re there to screw me, not kiss me for my vote and then f@ck me in the a$$....I am sooooo pissed right now.

The plan claims to achieve a $500 billion “aggressive deficit reduction down payment,” but outside of a repeal of Obamacare’s CLASS Act, no specifics are identified.

Republicans need to learn to cut this monstrously huge government the same way the Dems built - one piece at a time. The House Republicans need to find one significant cut (e.g, the CLASS Act) and say 'OK, cut this and we raise the debt ceiling enough for 60 days'. Have the House pass the new debt ceiling along with that one cut and tell the Senate and President to take it or leave it. If the debt ceiling doesn't get raised it will be because you wouldn't give us this one single cut.

Then in 60 days, find another program to cut and do the same thing. Don't take the pressure off. Force the other side to either accept a cut, or be the ones to not raise the debt ceiling. Keep the enormous fiscal mess as the central issue in the news every 60 days between now and the 2012 election.

Probably hand out IOU slips and wink. Trust us, we're from the federal government...we knows whats best!
