Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnells (R-Ky.) idea for a back-up plan on raising the countrys debt ceiling received the tentative support of another congressional leader Thursday when House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said he would be open to considering the proposal.
Mitch described his proposal as a last-ditch effort in case were unable to do anything else, Boehner said at a Thursday afternoon news conference. And what may look like something less-than-optimal today, if were unable to get to an agreement, might look pretty good a couple of weeks from now. But I think its worth keeping on the table. There are a lot of options that people have floated, and frankly, I think its an option that may be worthy at some point.
McConnells Plan B on the debt limit, unveiled by the top Senate Republican on Tuesday ahead of a negotiating session at the White House, would allow the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling to be raised in three separate stages while putting the political burden of doing so on President Obama and congressional Democrats.

What are the chances they are playing politics instead of getting punked...again.
BOHICA
I don’t see this as a surrender....it’s a game of poker. The President think he has a great hand in this deal...opts to raise the ceiling...then thinks he can fix it with mostly taxes and a handful of cuts. The taxes go after the companies and rich by November of this year, and the next recession starts up by February of next year. The government has no more money to flush into a fresh new recession...and so the Presidents gets full credit for a huge loss of jobs by July of 2012. Just in time for the election.
Frankly, the President’s only hope would be to make massive cuts...which his staff just won’t buy off on. I think McConnell has guessed completely right. Meanwhile....if this debt-king power is arranged...I’d put all money into bonds for the next six months and prepare for another massive recession.
BAD PLAN!!!!
Both parties suck............ :(
WTH is wrong with these folks. Hell lets just go ahead and make the deal. Telling the otherside that this will be it if not another deal is made — why make another deal. This one is a grand slam. Im done with the GOP, not one red cent NONE
Should Boner surrender/cave, he and his ilk is DONE, Done.
The Republican Party may as well fold its tent if it goes with McConnell’s appeasement plan. Turn out the lights, the Party’s over.
No, not a chance. The GOP “Leaders” are more scared of their own shadow than they are of the Tea Party.
Ryan said this is O.K. as a back-up plan, not his preference, but O.K. He was on Hannity earlier today.

Sadly you may be correct. Sure takes the wind out of my sails. But maybe we will finally get an honest correction so we can start over.
Republicans can’t really be this stupid. Giving Obama the authority to raise the debt limit is the same as voting to raise the debt limit. PERIOD.
“its a game of poker”
This is not a game. Our children’s future is at stake. Sometimes you have to draw a line in the sand. This is one of those moments when we are at a crossroads in our country’s future. Keep spending and we are doomed for certain.
what was Hannity’s response?
How is this gonna pass the House? Which Republicans are going to fall on their sword and vote for this? Any Republican who votes for this can kiss re-election goodbye. And do they not think that the media is going to hang raising the debt limit around their necks just the same as they will hang anything else. They might as well stand on the side of truth and doing the right thing for Ameria. What a bunch of cowards they are!
