the refernce to this being possibly imitative of north american indians is interesting. Would these have been vikings hired by svein during his ongoing raid/invasions of england as a preclude to conquering it? If vinland had already been discovered and explored, it isn’t too far-fetched to imagine a band of them imitating the art, then eventually meandering back to the british isles via greenland/iceland.
