““Voters don’t have a favorable view of millionaires”

Voters are driven by jealousy, envy, covetousness, bitterness. And politicians pander to that.

The Jet industry has already taken a hit from these stupid pronouncements. Now I guess the boating industry can suffer too.

We've got a $1.6T deficit -- and we think that taxing yachts will fix that little problem?

“Voters don’t have a favorable view of millionaires. This is something the president and other Democrats are using to project a populist tone,” said Tom Jensen, director for the Democratic Public Policy Polling. “It’s something that cuts across the party lines, especially in an economic climate like this.”

....of course voters have a favorable view for the generational welfare recipient, don't they Tom??? the people that would rather sit around and collect freebies from the gov't rather then get out there and work, as so many illegals are...you know Tom- the 63.5million that don't pay $.01 of federal income tax...better known as the base of the party you poll for....

Harry Reid has gotten very rich just being a senator. At least in the private sector, you become a millionaire by producing something other people want to buy. Reid and company produce nothing except hot air, red tape, and red ink.

are you kidding?

The bonehead class warriors define anyone making over $200,000 as a millionaire ..... I guess they assume you can save it all for 5 years and live off credit cards

Now, trust funds, and those who live off of trust funds- lets see the loopholes on those dissolved ...

Using government force to spread the wealth around is Marxism or worse. Government robbing We the People people is tyranny!

I thought the democrats were all in favor of EQUAL treatment under the law?

Interestingly, in my experience, liberals quiet down very quickly when I tell them John Kerry paid a very low percentage of his annual income in taxes the year he ran for prez (and most likely every year since or before).

It is like crickets, and there is nothing else like it. They just shut their mouths and open their eyes and start looking around.

Maybe they should look at what happened the last time they tried a luxury boat tax, and maybe they should look at what people like me are already doing. I used to employ quite a few people, but I now have no employees at all. Some I set up in business on their own, competing against me. Others lost their jobs. None work for me. My income is down more than 90% since Pelosi started coming after people like me, and it doesn’t hurt me a bit. Sadly, it does hurt my state and my country - but not as much as it would hurt if I gave the far left even more tax dollars for their anti-American policies.

The last time we slapped a tax on yachts it just sent the wealthy shopping overseas to buy them, and sent the skilled American craftsmen who made yachts on to the unemployment line.

Here is an opportunity for the republicans to say “Americans don’t like millionaires LIKE NANCY PELOSI AND HARRY REID!”

The canard about the Democrats being for the ‘little guy’ - now transformed into ‘the middle class’ - and Republicans being the party of ‘the rich’ is ancient but, sadly, still resonates with many Americans. That’s why the Democrats keep playing class warfare. It’s stupid and ultimately counter-productive but sadly, the average American buys into it every time. I don’t see this being an exception. The House Republicans will cave. Taxes will rise along with the debt ceiling. Oh, and we’ll get a few measly spending cuts that won’t mean squat. The D.C. game of screw the taxpayer continues, unabated.

Harry Reid announced a vote on a resolution written as a lose-lose for Republicans... calling on millionaires to pay more taxes, a maneuver that will let Democrats tell voters to look whose side Republicans are on

What's difficult about this vote? Everybody vote 'yes'. I can guarantee this measure will not come up in the House. End of Reid's little stunt.

“President Barack Obama has been the driving force, repeatedly laying out the case that corporations and wealthy Americans should contribute more as part of a debt ceiling agreement”.

Contribute more? Like the $76,000 per couple dinner fee to mingle with Barry last week?

Robbery by way of tax hikes isn’t the answer, and the consequence will be a further righteous strangling of revenues.
