Even Aphrodite Jones, who usually sides with the defense, says that the jury went to “shadow of a doubt” instead of “reasonable doubt”, which surprised me. She also said she believes Casey is guilty.
I still cannot believe Casey walks.
All the points you made were very on target...and most likely they were true.
However, the prosecution made some very big mistakes as in going for capital murder instead of manslaughter...focusing on Casey’s character ( which, granted is not what we would want for our daughter..ha)and then not having specific evidence for what the charges were.
As for the dysfunctional family...well, that sure explains a lot of Casey’s bizzare behaviors and lying ( not that those are ok) and THAT is what the prosecution made the focal point. That whole family lies all the time, a skill Casey perfected. After all, they had her lie and so did the family that she wasn’t pregnant for over 7 months of her pregnancy. Just dumb of the prosecution to go on and on about that. that ironically helped the defense.
The defense ‘s role is to present a case that disputes and tears appart the prosecution’s case...and if they did that they have a right to celebrate ( even if it looks bad as PR)You can bet the prosecution would be giving themselves High-fives if they won !
...If that was me charged with something, I WANT the best defense possible! I want all the protections of the law AND I want that defense team to win. The Duke boys got a great defense too and I celebrated that one.
Even if the smell in the car was of a dead body...the prosecution had to link that better to Casey...and they didn’t.
