53% of immigrant headed households are on welfare. Will’s stupid comment that all foreign students getting advance degrees should have a green card attached. That is pure BS. We already bring in more immigrants than the rest of the world combined. Let’s have a merit based immigration system rather than the current kinship system.
Will is bad on immigration. Several years ago we booed him at a CPAC banquet because of his statement that we must accept the fact that the illegals aren’t going home. He like others present the false choice of mass deportation versus a blanket amnesty. Attrition thru enforcement works.

Any legislation that legalizes the status of those who broke our laws by entering our country illegally and allows them to stay is amnesty. We must not only prevent the Democrats and some moderate Republicans from hijacking the meaning of the word amnesty, but the public must be made aware about the true impact of an amnesty. The Heritage Foundation concluded that the cost of amnesty alone would be $2.6 trillion in entitlement costs. And the number of additional LEGAL immigrants who would join those who were the recipients of amnesty through chain migration, i.e., family reunification, would approach 70 million over a 20-year period, assuming there are only 12 million illegal aliens. We cannot assimilate such numbers. An amnesty would destroy the United States of America with the stroke of a pen.

Will is totally clueless about the impact of amnesty and immigration on our SS system. We don’t need more immigrants to support the system. Immigrants grow old as well. And most contribute less than what they take out.

Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.

If you look at my exchange with 9YearLurker today, I’d add George Will’s name as a FOUNDING member of the New Left. Will was Bill Kristol before Bill Kristol was Bill Kristol.

And the border/immigration issue is positively existential. The nation ceases to exist if we continue the present policies.

I don’t call myself PaleoLurker (or MercantilistLurker), but I do believe there is disagreement as to whether paleocons are necessarily protectionist.

I would side with those who consider protectionism as needlessly freedom compromising. However, I don’t believe that protectionism from trading partners should go uncountered or unopposed.

The repubs own their share in this economy too. At least the leadership does.

Bingo, kabar. Neither party (in Congress) is serious about dealing with immigration (illegal or legal). The rest of America has to deal with the fallout of politicians' pandering to this growing voting group. Unlike the founders of this country, politicians have no vision beyond their next election.

Apparently none of our Repubs got the message last election so they need to really get it next one.

Happy Independence Day

Right on. Unless we change our immigration policies, our nation will cease to exist as we know it. And the Dems will be the permanent majority party presiding over a third world country. Unfortunately, our ruling elites fail to see how immigration is affecting or driving every major challenge to this country.

Immigration, legal and illegal, has had and will continue to have a major and far-reaching impact across a broad spectrum of existential challenges that confront this nation, e.g., national security, the economy/global competitiveness, jobs, health care, taxes, energy independence, education, entitlement reform, law enforcement, social welfare programs, physical infrastructure, the environment, civil liberties, and a continued sense of national identity/shared sense of endeavor. Immigration policy is the defining issue of our time with enormous implications for the future of this nation and the preservation of our patrimony. Changes to our existing immigration policies should be an integral part of the solutions to our problems. Yet, rarely will you read or hear immigration policy linked to these challenges by the political and media elites. Instead, legal immigration has become the third rail of American politics—for conservatives only.

What’s been interesting is watching the New Left on Fox (Kristol, Kraut, et al) wriggle around searching for their presidential candidate.

They can’t keep their metaphorical status (as neo cons) and openly support Obama, and besides, the fact is the Demoviks are just too far over the cliff at this point for them.

They’ll likely settle on Romney but they will then have to distinguish him from Obama (for us peons in the audience) which is beyond me to really see.

Everyday, it seems to me, Fox moves an inch closer to what CNN became—which is something no one ever watches.

Amen!!!!!!

Part of the reason that we have the divisiveness in America and that we went from a strong America to an indebted America has been the 1965 Immigration Bill sponsored by NY and NE liberals that resulted in excessive immigration from all over the world that was not in the country’s interest. The same “elitists” that were behind the 1965 Immigration Act continue to be for open borders and amnesty.

We were a more unified culture in the 50s and now we are Balkanized, which is exactly what they wanted.

Happy 4th to you and yours... VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS... they lied to us for the last time. Go read boehners's speech when he was selected SPEAKER. “WE HAVE HEARD YOU”... if they did... they ignored what it was that they heard. How's the repeal of obamacare going? Has there been one word written to overturn it? Did they not promise that was job one? Hmmmm. You are dead on!

Exactly its a huge problem that is totally ignored by the DBM and both sides of the aisle.............

On another front desperate for DNC chatting points to see what is coming our way next week I tuned in to Fareeeeddddd Ben Laden on CNN.I was not disappointed.

Evidently Super smiley guy Big Tom Donilon is "the " National Security advisor for the regime having sat down with zero over 400 times personally.

Fareed Ben Laden asked him about various locales around the globe.

On Libya smiley guy says we support the opposition in Libya even though we can't recognize them and don't dare arm them since we know that they will be taken over by the muzzie brotherhood if they already haven't been. Smiley guy didn't say it exactly like that but that was the gist.

ON Syria Smiley guy says "we talk a lot",he claims Assad needs to get out of the way and says the US is pressing Assad to do the right thing but not to resign.

Truth here is that Assad helps arm all the terror types on the West Bank/Hamas who are determined to destroy Israel. Last thing zero wants to do is get in the way of that effort so they basically put up with anything that half assed Assad wants to do. The regime fully knows who Syria is,how much poisonous gas they hold from Iraq how much support they give to other terror types and how much interaction they have with Iran and are more than OK with what they do. We are so screwed. The regime is fully ready and willing to let the Saudis play both sides just like Iraq and Afghanistan does even though the Saudis help fund terrorism more than probably anyone else in the world. The obama regime does not care. They are all about creating chaos and no one is a better partner than the Saudis.

Fareed Ben Laden asks smiley guy what about Iran. Smiley guy says we have placed tough, tough, sanctions on Iran and they will eventually fold.

Meanwhile they do whatever they want and have taken advantage of the Arab spring in country after country. In other words the regime has no guts to take on Iran even though they are as much behind major terrorism as are the Saudis.

On Afghanistan Donilion says "we are withdrawing from a position of strength" if he can spin that one he can spin anything.

Most interesting was the administrations take on the Pakis. Even the regime has to acknowledge that the pakis helped OBL for 6 years. But since they have nukes we have to put up with anything they do and we will continue to use drones even if they hate us.

Typical left wing crybaby response.

Probably the best of Donilon's DNC chatting points was his take on Fareeedds' question about the obamba doctrine and does zero lead from behind?

Donilon says the regime is creating a whole new influence in all parts of the world after GW ran things into the ditch.(ho-Hummmm)

Just too good.

He forgot to say that after obama's ally destruction we will become almost friendless all over the world and hated as the great Satan which is what zero is really all about.

Well, thank you.

I wish I was brilliant enough to have taken less than 6 years or so to figure out that when Bush 43 called himself a “COMPASSIONATE conservative” he was really insulting the rest of us plain ol’ conservatives.

I think that’s where this whole neo con/New Left thing really got started. With that bit of political gimmickery. But back in 2000 I hated Gore so much I didn’t really care WHAT Bush said.

Thanks! I'd missed that. If was can trust Politico's Jonathan Martin... OUCH but the secondary link going to Politico has these quotes:

"Romney’s total haul for this quarter, to be revealed in July, will be revealing. One fundraiser here said assuredly that the Republican would raise $40 million" and "And it was clear, in not-for-attribution conversations with donors here, that Daniels is the one Team Mitt is eying... “[Mitch Daniels'] got to ask – could I do this?” said another Romney contributor. “Could I raise even $25 million [for the quarter]?”

It may not have been the campaign saying it was their goal but just people bloviating after that $10.25 million on day haul in May. Still, it may be telling that they may have only added 50% of what was accomplished in one day during that next six weeks' time.

Obama is willingly presiding over the demise of this country. He wants to total dismantle it and rebuild it from the ground up as a Marxist paradise. The Constitution is a major stumbling block.
