So does Quinn (D) get the Scott Walker treatment from the Unionistas? I doubt it!

The union condemned Quinn in harshly personal terms, calling him hypocritical and saying he "has sunk even lower" than some Republican governors because they changed laws on collective bargaining while Quinn is simply ignoring a legal contract.

I think that IL holds the record for former governors being convicted and sent to the slammer. Quinn will undoubtedly join the parade.

This cat may set a precedent. Just ignore everything. If he gets away with it then everybody else can.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. State workers, whomever, wherever, can go eff themselves. The majority of them are such pampered, coddled parasites who give no thought to anything other than "what can I take for myself" that I have no sympathy left for them whatsoever.

They've been on the long end of the privilege stick for long enough; if they don't like being on the short end, then they should quit and come join the rest of us in the world of reality.

You're talking Illinois, not some mambypamby place like Wisconsin. There will be drive-by shootings and burnings in Chicago as this progresses. Quinn will retaliate by arresting large numbers of gunowners downstate.

He hopes by taking such action to immunize himself from union sponsored assassination attempts ~ but it will prove useless.

Some of the comments suggest there are people who feel a promised raise in a labor contract with the state is binding.

Although that's a highly technical legal question, states have usually dealt with any court decision in such matters by simply laying off enough employees to cover the total cut.

If they won’t forgo the pay increase, just lay off half of them. That should save just as much & punish the union by a 50% loss in union dues.

If the social security payments, which are based on COst of living, are not raised for some time now, why do the unions need a cost of living raise?

They are not being paid less, they are simply not receiving an increase to a point above the cost of living...

Some people lose jobs, but the unions want to tax more so they can have their raises. Remind me never to rely on a union man when the CHIPS are down.

Unions are like the kind of people who don’t worry about hiking with a group of people in a woods full of bears...they know they can trip you up to out run you and the bears will never attack them.

“illegal and irresponsible” by a key union”

OK...sure...it’s not illegal(like bouncing checks) and irresponsible to spend money you don’t have? OK. Got it.

Incredible...so I would surmise all these “outraged good citizens” will rush right out and personally subsidize these poor, downtrodden state employees. I mean, they are really, really concerned and worried about them, right? Holding my breath...

Heh!
In the meantime, Wisconsin’s new laws signed by Scott Walker have already taken one school district from a $400,000 defecit to a $1.5 million surplus.

Of course, NOBODY’S talking about that.
