Conservative pundit Coulter wraps up book tour in Auburn
Posted: Sunday, June 26, 2011 7:00 am Love her or loathe her -- there doesn't seem to be an in between -- there's no denying that high-profile conservative pundit Ann Coulter knows how to energize a crowd and elicit reaction, good or bad depending on your politics. Coulter was in Auburn Saturday evening, the last stop on her five-city tour of Michigan to promote her latest book: Demonic: How the Liberal Mob is Endangering America.
Though she said earlier this week on the Sean Hannity Show on Fox that she was going to Michigan to sell books, not have fun, the outspoken political commentator seemed to be enjoying herself as she skewered President Obama, especially on the economy, and, of course, her favorite target: Liberals. Even First Lady Michelle Obama was not spared from Coulter's biting wit.
Noting that detainees in Guantanamo Bay are gaining about 10 pounds on average, she wondered if it "was a prison camp or freshman year in the dorms at Michigan State."
"We may have to get the First Lady down there with her Get Moving Campaign, although seeing Michelle Obama in stretch pants could be scary."
Coulter said improving the economy was supposed to be Obama's top priority when he got elected, but "it's only got worse.""The economic miracle under Obama, the stimulus bill, mostly stimulated government," she said. "The economy is in the toilet, unemployment remains at 9 percent, housing values are down, nobody can find a job, especially young people, and they voted for him."
Coulter claims to be puzzled as to why Obama has come under fire in some circles for frequently playing golf. She views his time on the links as damage control for the nation."Why are conservatives upset that he's playing golf all the time? That's less time he has to ruin another part of the economy."
She said 60 percent of Americans want "Obamacare" repealed and that the president, after running as a moderate Democrat, started socializing everything in sight after getting elected."Now he has to run on his record," she said. "He'll still be tough to beat next year. He has the advantage of incumbency and the entire mainstream media on his side."
Coulter wants New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to vie for the Republican nomination for president, though he has not, to date, indicated any desire to do so."Christie, if he jumps in the race, would win and do great things for the country," she said. "The country needs him."
Nearly 500 people showed up to hear Coulter's political analysis, many sticking around to purchase her new book and have it signed by the frequent guest of Fox News."She's here in my hometown (Auburn) and there's no way I was not going to see her," said Carrie Rostollan, a local magician. "It cost me $50 but I got a free book out of the deal."
Sanford resident Phyllis Owens said, "She was delightful, quick-witted, wonderfully spoken, intelligent and beautiful. It was nice she could show up here."
Coulter's Michigan tour was hosted by the state's chapter of Americans for Prosperity, which boasts 55,000 members, officials said.
Scott Hagerstrom, state director of the organization's Michigan chapter, said the group has been to Auburn a couple of times previously to meet with local Tea Party members, and that small-town venues are an important element of their grassroots efforts. Americans for Prosperity-Michigan, according to its website, advocates limited government and free markets on the local, state and national levels.
Coulter said part of the reason she wrote the book is because she thinks conservatives have lost their instinctive aversion to mobs and violence.

If you haven't read Ann's new book yet, HERE is a good place to start:
Up and Down With Demonic
[ANN COULTER's new book is a terrific read, except for...]
Canada Free Press ^ | June 25, 2011 | Jim O'Neill
Posted on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 9:00:52 AM by RonDog-- snip -- Ann Coulters new book "Demonic" is a terrific readwith one glaring exception.
Overall, I give the book "two enthusiastic thumbs up," way up. More about the "glaring exception" in a bit.
A unifying thread that runs through Coulters book is the concept of Democrats as the party of the mob. She absorbed much of her knowledge on this subject from Gustave Le Bons 1896 classic, "The Crowd." Link...
-- snip --
...The core, or heart, of Coulters book is (IMHO) Part II: "The Historical Context Of The Liberal," in which Coulter gives an informative, concise description of the French Revolution, and comparisons with the American Revolution"the history youve never read."

Demonic and The Underrated Ann
Pajamas Media ^ | June 27, 2011 | Andrew Klavan

It seems strange to say that Ann Coulter is underrated. Every book she writes is a bestseller her new one, Demonic, is no exception. When shes on tour, you can barely turn on a TV or radio without seeing her face, hearing her voice. I was in a restaurant with her once and she was so swamped with admiring members of the public I felt like I was part of a movie stars entourage.
(I dont really do entourages, but if I had to be part of one, I was glad it was hers.) All the same, I dont think she gets the respect she deserves...
-- snip --
...When Ann Coulter is good and I think Demonic is one of her best she is doing something special and doing it at a level that makes her unique.
Its not just the heavyweight research or the fearless disdain for received opinion. Her flexible, sardonic, rigorous and unabashedly jokey prose creates an iconic voice that humanizes her polemic and compels you to engage with her specific and original worldview.
People are wont to say off-handedly "you either love her or hate her," but they dont seem to understand that thats a writerly achievement of the first water.
Demonic makes an argument more complex than her other books.
Books like Slander and Treason tended to marshal legions of facts and examples in support of ideas like "the mainstream media lie," or "liberals are unpatriotic."
Demonic revives the 19th century science of "crowd psychology," and argues that left-wing politics descends from the brutal and ultimately enslaving mob madness of the French Revolution whereas conservatives have inherited the mantle of the American founders, who feared the mob above all.
The book operates like a prosecutor building a case and even at its most one-sided, is often scarily convincing.
The chapters in Part III on violence are brilliant.
Had I hair, it wouldve stood on end...

Anne , in her new book Demonic, is describing the rise of liberal fascism in America, oone whihc supports the international Islamist movement( which is why Obama has the US involved in Libya, supporting the Arab Spring rise of the Muslim Brotherhood across all of the middle East and North Africa).
Anne does so without using the word “Fascism,” but she describes exactly that:National Socialism Mob rule.
This is a brilliant article on the same subject:

We must have a GOP presidential candidate who has the intestinal fortitude to make that case to America and allow our country to make a stand against this mob.
