The 37-year-old Monrovia resident reflected the sentiment of most of the 93,000 strong crowd when he added: ‘But yet, I didn’t have a choice to come here, I was born in Mexico, and that is where my heart will always be.’

At 37 years of age it appears you are old enough to choose where you want to live, now. I’m sure Mexico would love to have you return.

If if I had my way, the rest of his body would be joining his heart in Mexico, and he wouldn't have a choice in that decision either.

Not all immigrants feel that way. When I was working in the public library in South Pasadena, Calif., a Chinese woman who could barely speak English came up to me and asked for some books on US history during the Colonial era for her daughter. She said she wanted her daughter to learn about her new country and to become a patriotic American.
