Extremists finding fertile ground in Northwest US
Associated Press ^ | June 22, 20111 | NICHOLAS K. GERANIOS

KALISPELL, Mont. – With its jagged peaks, glistening lakes and lush valleys, the Inland Northwest — stretching from eastern Washington to Montana's Glacier National Park — is a stunningly beautiful and remote part of the country.

It also is a cradle for sometimes-violent anti-government activity — a reputation most recently rekindled by the search for David Burgert. The former Kalispell militia leader is accused of opening fire on sheriff's deputies on a remote logging road in Lolo National Forest.

After a lull following the demise of the Idaho-based neo-Nazi Aryan Nations in 2000, anti-government and white supremacist groups and individuals may be reviving in the Inland Northwest. It's a mostly white, mostly rural area with few job opportunities and a history of extreme activists.

Experts say the number of radical right groups is growing across the country because of the poor state of the economy, rising immigration and fears that President Barack Obama's administration has an agenda to curtail individual liberties.

You are exactly right.

When the G7 or whomever meet in Seattle and the downtown is burnt and pillaged who the hell does this reporter think is doing it?

All across the Northwest and the Rocky Mountain region it is left-leaning and leftist transplants who want to eff up peoples’ attempts to live, work and raise their families in peace.

The lefties can’t manage to run their own lives that way; they have to pull down government money, or live off lawsuits or interest groups like Sierra Club or EarthFirst! or the Yellowstone Coalition or any of the many various PIRGs.

Screw them. Dig in. Load up. Watch your back and tend to your own.

“Just remember, if you believe that a government entity should be restrained by its Constitution you’re a member of a radical right group”.

You phrased that quite well indeed.

I thought the extremists were in NYC, DC, and San Francisco.

I’m sure next week this author will do an expose of the hippy communes of Floyd County in the mountains of South Western VA! lol

(I realize most of you have probably never heard of the place, but there really ARE hippy communes there lol)

What sh*t.

The country could burn down around idiots like this reporter and they'd still have an eagle eye out for white supremicists.

Or could it be AP is helping the democrats drum up a little campaign money?

Thank you.

You wouldn’t believe the argument I get when I apply that in some conversations.
For example, I could say “the South Dakota State Statutes prohibiting firearms in courthouses (and state-buildings) are illegal.” and then cite its State Constitution:
Art 6, Sec 24: “The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the state shall not be denied.”

And someone’ll say “but people on-trial shouldn’t have guns in the courthouse” or “I don’t want gangbangers in the courts” or even try to claim that the ‘court security’ nullifies any claim one might have to providing for their own security (the USSC disagrees, btw, a police officer has no affirmative duty to protect a private citizen from another private citizen: http://www.endtimesreport.com/NO_AFFIRMATIVE_DUTY.htm , http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1976377/posts ).

Interestingly, these same people seem to be either utterly unaware that such prohibitions ALSO strip the right of JURORS (who have not been so much as charged with a crime).

After having visited I'm sorry I gave her the hit.

Was unable to find any clue as to her former identity, but if she were ever here I'm glad she's gone.

Yep. Guess I'm just an Enemy of the State.

Let them hate, so long as they fear.

Here you go... If this be extremism, then let them make the most of it.

This is news, not the wilding gangs of the Democrat voting inner city.

They indeed are the ones behind the violence but let's not talk about that, that would be racist.

How many hundreds, perhaps thousands will die this summer because of inner city gang violence? Overwhelmingly black and/or Mexican. Can we, as a society please address this issue?

How about the real Extremists who have taken over the government and country we love? There is no mention of them, either!

This article is purposely vague so as to dishonestly link decent Americans who believe in God, Country and Inalienable Rights with violent, anti-government nutjobs..

The only people against our government are Progressive Liberals who are destroying it from within and rebuilding it to their Socialist likings. To them the means justifies the end. Extremists calling others what they are themselves.

The only reason I still feel safe in this country is because I know people like the ‘Oath Keepers’ are out there.
