It reminds me of President George W. Bush’s expression: “The soft bigotry of low expectations.”
Perhaps he (and others) really have low expectations of Arab muslim leaders’ conduct because deep inside they really don’t think those leaders are smart enough and mature enough to do any better.
They know Israel has grown-ups in charge, so they expect them to act better and get mad if/when they fall short.
Same with the Catholic Church. It gets held to a higher standard than other institutions because people expect smart grown-ups to be in charge, so they get disappointed if they don’t measure up. If the imams of Iran act wrongly, no one expected any different.
Punish success, punish good, reward failure, reward evil. Why is anyone surprised that this administration’s foreign policy is the same as the domestic policy?
