ARLINGTON, Va. Authorities took one person into custody and closed roads around the Pentagon Friday after a "suspicious device" was found in a car, NBC News reported.
One or two other suspects who "fled the scene" on foot were being hunted by police, according to NBC News' Jim Miklaszewski.
Although it was not immediately clear what the device was, one official told NBC News that "it looks like a bomb."
The incident brought traffic to a standstill in the area.
NBCWashington.com reported that the suspicious vehicle was discovered on Washington Boulevard.

“Are you tellin’ me I’ve been in the wrong, all my life?”
Well, Laz, maybe just wrong about spelling! Woah? 8^)
The radio news was reporting that despite the gridlock, Metro service was continuing at the Pentagon and Pentagon City stops. I have to admit, there’s a *certain* stop on the blue and yellow lines that always causes concern, and I can’t wait till the train moves on from there. (then again it’s a good year when I take Metro 3x)
“There is no specific suspicious package at this point (that) I’m aware of. However, because of the proximity of the vehicle to the Pentagon and the activities of the person in the cemetery we’re handling it as such,” Schlosser said.
Authorities have found nothing suspicious in a vehicle that was found near the Pentagon this morning or on a man that was taken into custody overnight in the Arlington Cemetery, an FBI official said.
Police closed roads around the Pentagon early this morning after discovering the vehicle off Washington Boulevard. Authorities are in the process of reopening the roads.
Interesting how "suspicious" turns into "never mind" so often around this town. I wonder what was really in the vehicle?
Woah, you know, the dude in the Bible with a hairlip.

Whatever you do, don’t go anywhere east of Capitol South on the Blue Line unless you have a body guard. Did it once. Won’t do it again.
I flew to NC last week and back this week to see my son. He asked how the flight was because I was in such a foul mood when I arrived.
The answer? “I don’t feel free anymore.”
I’ve flown all over the world for years even post 9/11 but I have never felt so violated, manipulated and abused as this last trip.
The summer season has always sucked with all the amateur travelers and whining kids but this was the worst trip ever. Adding to it, the united - Continental merger ruined at least one good airline.
Whoa! I forgot all about Woah! Wasn’t he Noah’s cousin, twice removed? Twice removed from what? The Arkh, I think.
Uh oh. Did someone publish a picture of Martin Luther with a bomb on his head?
Fox News reports suspect is a Marine Lance Corporal Reservist and a muslim. Nothing to see here, move along.
Fox News further reports bomb squad at suspect’s home in Alexandria community called Autumn Chase.
Thank You for the updates.

Bomb squad investigators and bomb-sniffing dogs also searched the man's home in the Autumn Chase neighborhood of Fairfax County, where he lives with his parents. Bomb techs reportedly went into the home without a search warrant due to a possible public safety threat. They determined there was no threat and were waiting for a warrant to continue searching. No neighbors had to be evacuated.

It's just "the hood" to me ~ all familiar territory. The world's largest wood roofed building is still there. There's a hospital. A university is being built. The mall is being totally redone ~ they'll shortly be ripping that area to pieces, and, for a sort of topping on it all, we have two major interchanges around here that cost at least $1 billion each!
To pin the area down more specifically, it's roughly at the intersection of I95, I395, I495, Springfield Bypass, Franconia Road, Old Keene Mill Road, and Beulah St. Metrorail has a station there, and there are two Virginia Railway Express stations ~ one for trains bound for Manassas and the other for trains bound for Fredericksburg.
You can't miss us next time you come through.
There was a disaster and we were screwed on 9/11. With the federal government workforce out in the street + the Metro shut down, the DC police restricted the ability to exit from DC by car. We could not move for hours. I finally drove across the 14th St. Bridge when I was not supposed to, as a passenger of mine pointed out. I replied, “tough, we are going”.
I am glad I did because I was then able to see the burning hole in the Pentagon.
I see that Marine Corps recruiting has given in to PC. Given that he lives in Fairfax County + is a Muslim, he was radicalized before he ever hit the recruiting station. But as GEN Casey said after Fort Hood, a greater tragedy would be if we slowed down on “diversity” in the military.
On another note, I just received new guidance from the Office of Personnel Management directing mandatory tolerance for the transgendered in the workplace. Guys dressed as women can use the women’s bathroom + vice-versa. I’m sure that’s what those laid to rest in Arlington thought they were fighting for.
Any relation to Jeff Dunham?
