ARLINGTON, Va. — Authorities took one person into custody and closed roads around the Pentagon Friday after a "suspicious device" was found in a car, NBC News reported.
One or two other suspects who "fled the scene" on foot were being hunted by police, according to NBC News' Jim Miklaszewski.
Although it was not immediately clear what the device was, one official told NBC News that "it looks like a bomb."
The incident brought traffic to a standstill in the area.
NBCWashington.com reported that the suspicious vehicle was discovered on Washington Boulevard.

Well, that's going to be tough if that report of a backpack full of explosives is accurate. The best we can hope for is a that they will tell us that there is no reason to believe this has any connection to any known terrorist group.

Just heard the ‘suspect’ who was arrested (others being pursued) is of Ethiopian descent. And had an “AQ/Taliban Rules” sign.
There’s lots of room to create havoc at the Pentagon, in the parking lots, bus stops, etc. Hey, they do what they can do for the cause! Remember the CIA shooting?

I pray they are checking perimeter for other possibles. I would have to believe this is being done (checking possibles). Anyone of middle-eastern background (yes, I am profiling) should be reviewed and questioned as to purpose in the area for a start, though this will probably not be done.

Guy was in Arlington Nat Cem (which is closed at night), found his car, a few people fled possibly, they found a backpack filled with ammonium nitrate and there might have been a few suspicious devices left at sites in Arlington.
Not much yet but this reeks of an attack by Amish and Buddhists in conjunction with Deists and Wiccans..
Spokesman confirmed part of Arlington Cemetery and Iwo Jima Memorial closed for similar investigations.
OK, I posted the previous before I found out it was a real bomb - I’ll never forget being stuck on the parkway for three hours while police searched around Memorial Bridge for a non-existent bomb, about fifteen years ago.
Thank God it didn’t go off.
