Gore lauds Romney on climate position By Jordan Fabian - 06/15/11 01:17 PM ET
Former Vice President Al Gore on Wednesday praised GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney for his acknowledgement of global climate change.
Gore, who has championed climate issues since losing the 2000 presidential race, posted a note on his blog that praised Romney for being consistent on his position that humans have contributed to rising global temperatures.
"Good for Mitt Romney though we've long passed the point where weak lip-service is enough on the Climate Crisis," Gore wrote. "While other Republicans are running from the truth, he is sticking to his guns in the face of the anti-science wing of the Republican Party."
Gore's message could further provoke conservatives, some of whom objected last week after Romney reiterated his position at a town-hall meeting in New Hampshire.
Bye-bye, nomination, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh said on his radio last Tuesday, The Washington Post noted.
President Obama and other Democrats have also named the healthcare reforms Romney sought as Massachusetts governor as a template for the new national healthcare law.
But as Gore suggested, Romney and he disagree over how to fix the problem. Gore favors a cap-and-trade energy policy whereas Romney opposes one.
We dont call it America warming," Romney said, according to the Post. We call it global warming."
Romney initially favored a regional cap-and-trade program as governor, but eventually pulled Massachusetts out of the agreement over economic concerns.
Gore offered Romney similar praise last year after the former Massachusetts governor reiterated his position in his memoir, No Apology.
LOLOLOLOL! “What goes around comes around”.
I understand comparative politics and all that. But first things first. All candidates have not even announced and yet we have some already jumping to some conclusion that Romney has a lock. I used to believe that because Romney is quick a slick talker. However Romney is doing something I didn’t expect. He is telling the truth and saying what he really believes. I am actually grateful for that.
How does someone who believes in making people buy health care and Global Warming get the Republican nomination? I don’t see it. I think even the establishment Republicans are struggling to get behind him. This defeatist attitude that Romney has a lock is absurd. Romney can be stopped.
WAY TO KILL THE ROMNEY NOMINATION, AHGORE! :)
He doesn’t believe it. He no doubt stands to make a huge amount of money from the cap and trade scam, just like Gore.
“Are people still happy no one attacked the medias frontrunner Mitt RINO during the debate? Is THIS who we want representing conservatives on the national stage? This all looks horrible.”
I believe there is collusion. It doesn’t make sense for the candidates to chew each other so early in the season. They are all focusing in on Obama.
I believe the gloves will come off soon enough.
Your post is utterly ridiculous and insulting to conservatives. You have it backwards. I will NOT go out and cast a vote for Romney. Romney has NO chance to beat Obama.
Only a true conservative can destroy Obama. Palin, Bachmann, or Cain can easily defeat "the one."
Romney to Gore: “Shh, shh, quiet, not now. I’m supposed to be a conservative. Wait ‘till I’m in office, then we can talk about all this liberal stuff I agree with...”
Romney's poison-gas lever. Rots a ruk. A slower death than Obama's electric chair lever.
Either way, you're dead and so is America.
Actually, he was touting Howard Baker that election.
- Gore lauds Romney on Global Warming hoax
Lets go for a trifecta...
So, who is going to laud Romney on ethenol subsidies... Reid?
Oh yeah, but he was out fast and I remember all the “smart Republicans” were backing Bush. I totally forgot about Baker and I heard the story recently. My bad.
Baker is/was no different than Romney, Rockefeller, and Lamar Alexander could be his clone.
Romney’s best shot at becoming President would be to challenge Obama in the Democrat primary.
Palin, Bachman, etc, etc have no shot to be Obama.

Actually Fred is right on that and I am damned glad, I would hate for people to start being Obama.
You have a sharp eye! Thanks.
Anyone know where I can buy the puke bags they have on airplanes?
Every time I read another story of the imposter Romney I get sick.
Hey it is way way too early!!! Remember this bum was ahead in the polls in the last cycle only to be upset in Iowa, and destroyed in his "home state" of Michigan.
Right now I'm supporting Michele Bachmann, she has the X Factor in my opinion. Meanwhile, the MSM is focusing on attacking Palin and have ignored Bachmann.
The people who support Romney are RINOS, they are not the base of the party, we are!!!
Mark my words, Romney WILL NOT win the nomination. Enough of us know he's a fraud liberal piece of trash.
I would just like you all to do one thing, it is very easy, tell your conservative family, friends, neighbors, ect... that Romney is a fraud. He supports abortion, gay marriage, death panels (gave us Obamacare), global warming, and every other liberal position.
And if people say Bachmann isn't as good on the economy tell them that she was heavily educated in economics!!!

Agreed. The only way I can figure out Romney is that he may be spending so much time among elite left-wingers around Harvard, MIT and metro Boston that he really does think he’s a conservative compared to the people he hangs out with. That’s a common problem for conservatives in the upper echelons of academia and government (and the news media too, but that’s not my problem in rural Missouri). Unfortunately the saying that “bad company corrupts good character” is often true.
The real question is what Al Gore was thinking when he said that. Surely Al Gore knows an endorsement by the 2000 Democratic Party presidential nominee and 1992-2000 vice president of Romney’s ideas on climate change will make him less electable in his own party.
If Gore was asked that question out of the blue by a reporter and gave a straight answer to a question rather than pussyfooting around, I can respect that. I’m sure he knew he’d be asked and was prepared with an answer; “I don’t know because I haven’t studied Romney’s views in detail” doesn’t cut the mustard when you’re at that level of politics.
But if Gore went out of his way to make his liking for Romney’s views known, we need to ask whether Gore had an explicitly political motive. Was he trying to harm Romney? Was he trying to help Romney by burnishing his credentials with the left-of-center media and DC elites? I don’t know, but the answers could get interesting.
They turned my district from Judy Biggert and lots of Republics into a mini Saudi Arabia. I'm betting OBL's grandson will run for Congress.
The rats in this state have done so many horrible things since January that I think Conservatives will come out in droves and they won't support that fraud Romney.
