WASHINGTON Pakistans top military spy agency has arrested some of the Pakistani informants who fed information to the Central Intelligence Agency in the months leading up to the raid that led to the death of Osama bin Laden, according to American officials.
Pakistans detention of five C.I.A. informants, including a Pakistani Army major who officials said copied the license plates of cars visiting Bin Ladens compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in the weeks before the raid, is the latest evidence of the fractured relationship between the United States and Pakistan. It comes at a time when the Obama administration is seeking Pakistans support in brokering an endgame in the war in neighboring Afghanistan.
At a closed briefing last week, members of the Senate Intelligence Committee asked Michael J. Morell, the deputy C.I.A. director, to rate Pakistans cooperation with the United States on counterterrorism operations, on a scale of 1 to 10.
Three, Mr. Morell replied, according to officials familiar with the exchange.
The fate of the C.I.A. informants arrested in Pakistan is unclear, but American officials said that the C.I.A. director, Leon E. Panetta, raised the issue when he travelled to Islamabad last week to meet with Pakistani military and intelligence officers.
Some in Washington see the arrests as illustrative of the disconnect between Pakistani and American priorities at a time when they are supposed to be allies in the fight against Al Qaeda instead of hunting down the support network that allowed Bin Laden to live comfortably for years, the Pakistani authorities are arresting those who assisted in the raid that killed the worlds most wanted man.

aaaand they say Oooobamatons don do notin good....
Brilliant! Even Huma would be pleased.
The Administration was leaking information all over the place, they were so anxious to give Obama maximum publicity over this raid. I don’t know who is responsible for this, but as HST said, the buck stops at the top.
Apparently Holder works very closely Pakistanis.
Way to protect those assets Leon!
I guess no 25 mil.
I guess no 25 mil.
Time to turn our back on Pakistan and start selling all the good stuff to India at a discount.
Barry and his ilk don’t even require 30 pieces of silver to betray their friends. May God have mercy on the poor souls who trusted the US government to protect them.
Was the informant OBL’s youngest wife? LOL!
>> according to American officials.
South, Central, or North?

I see, the pertinent intel had no relation to the Bush years. /s
These are probably the truest words ever been spoken about our safety entrusted to the Federal Gov’t. I am not aware of any point in history where the US of A suffered such risk from the WH.
Would it be the same folks who want to prosecute the CIA officers who get them the intel? Maybe the same ones who helped to spring Al Qaeda operatives from Guantanamo back before they worked in Justice...?
I share your serious opinion. This is no light matter.
The cold hard fact is that many people around the globe either don’t like us, or are envious of us. That said, we cannot ensure our safety by trying to win their affection and approval. We can only ensure our safety by maintaining economic and military strength. No matter how hard the left tries to convince the world to love us, and no matter how much we self-flagelate, we won’t be able to change the hearts of those who resent us.
Today US announced more AID to Pakistan. I think its around $300 million.
