BARRIE, Ont. - Police blame some serious distracted driving for a chain-reaction crash that caused more than $100,000 in damage after a teenager struck a parked car in this city north of Toronto.
Police said the driver was texting and trying to pick up her cat when the collision happened.
Cops said the teenager was speeding when she lost control of the car, left the roadway and struck a car parked in a driveway. It was pushed into a boat, which was also in the driveway. The boat was then pushed into the house and a neighbour's vehicle.
The driver was taken to hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
She has been charged with careless driving.
Car into car into a boat into a house and another car? Is this teenager related to the former crash choreographer for “CHIPS”?
True story ... my boss's daughter once put a Honda Civic in a tree. Right in the middle of an evergreen ... about 8 feet up. They still don't know how she did it.
A teenager walked out of a store, wearing headphones, crossed the sidewalk, and directly into the path of my vehicle a few weeks ago...all without looking up from his cellular phone.
The fact that I was concentrating on driving is what saved his life as I slammed on the brakes and leaned on the horn to secure his attention.
I hope the cat’s OK.
Years ago, on more than one occasion, while riding in a carpool to work, I observed a man, dressed in a business suit, driving along and reading a newspaper.
Examples of people educated way beyond their intelligence.
Unreal! If the toothpaste has micro amounts of arsenic in it, she will wish she spat it out.
True
as I slammed on the brakes and leaned on the horn to secure his attention.

On the highway I am reluctant to use the horn on ‘texters’ and/or ‘talkers’.
Concerned they will ‘wake up’ and swerve into me..
No other serious injuries that I know of.
Imagine the person on the other end waiting for his next text if they were going back and forth as kids usually do.
I followed a woman for about a mile on a 50 mph road who was looking in the rear view mirror, putting on makeup, both hands off the wheel, steering with her elbows. She got the car around a fairly sharp turn with no problem. There was no way I was going to pass her, even though she seemed quite good at this.
Another one. I used to carpool with a guy who talked to me while he was driving and always made full eye contact. When the cars in front of him slowed or stopped, I turned my head to look at the brake lights but he kept looking at me. Either he had 180+ peripheral vision or an eyeball in his ear. I never got used to this and my legs were tired from pushing down on the floor as if I had brake pedals on my side. He never came close to rear-ending someone.
There must be special angels assigned to people like the ones you describe.
One of the homeowners is named “Attila”.
No, it was just rascally catness.
We were moving South in a 3 vehicle caravan, and the cats were in a large cage in my car. Domino decided he wasn’t going to get along with the other cats, so my friend driving the main truck said, “I’ll take him”. Ha!
At 1 in the am driving through SC, Domino, who had been dozing on the passenger seat of the truck, suddenly decided the driver needed “The Needles” on his front right thigh.
The driver responded by driving the truck into a ditch on 95. The middle car saw him, and stopped, but I, in the lead, contined blithely on.
Some great truckers stopped and tried to help them get out, but they eventually had to call a tow. I never did find them until we met up at Welcome Center.
It is a welcome relief from the excessive bitter political nastiness that has been prevalent on this board lately.
They have shown by their actions that they are not smart or responsible enough to be trusted.
Life is good.
I just got news today my surgical biopsy is negative. Laus Deo!
And here is my fav cat video. My cats always talk to me too. Except they are senile now, so they don’t make any sense...
