GOP swings both ways on gay-marriage bill (New York)
NY Post ^ | June 13, 2011 | Frederic U. Dicker

Seven or more Senate Republicans have signaled Gov. Cuomo that they're ready to legalize same-sex marriage, more than enough to put the controversial and historic measure over the top this week, The Post has learned.

A highly knowledgeable Senate insider said yesterday that "far more of the [GOP] members are in play than anyone realizes, including some surprising names from conservative upstate areas."

[Snip]

Influences contributing to the changes of heart are secret Republican polls showing majority support for gay marriage in key swing districts and the strong possibility that the GOP could lose control of the Senate next year to Democrats campaigning on the issue, sources said. But despite the growing support, passage of same-sex marriage remains uncertain at the start of the final full week of the legislative session.

One week left to try to defeat this (again)! I'm not liking that I'm hearing that GOPers are being wishy-washy on this from the Post. If it were the Times, I'd ignore it as propaganda, but the Post usually seems to be on the Conservative side of things.

This is the reason for the slanted polls. Influence. If they REALLY wanted to do the will of the people it would be on a ballot.

So voting yes on a liberal issue is a sure-fire way to win over the conservatives who helped put you into office ...

It won't last long anyway.
Once the country has rotten sufficiently from within, radical Islam will gain a foothold and then take over.

And then ...

My Senator, Roy McDonald is one of the pubbies caving. Quite a disappointment as he voted it down in 2009.

Just sent him a terse email.

Anyone feel free to email him, even if not in NY, tell him you’ll send $ to replace him next election.

New York State Senator James Alesi just announced that he would be the first Republican to back the gay marriage bill. Two more Republicans are needed for the legislation to pass.

It could go either way, and I urge pro-family NYers to write a letter to the editor, and contact their state senators to let them know that this won’t stop at gay “marriage.”

For instance:

Same-sex “marriage” laws lead to religious discrimination:

“Boston’s Catholic Charities to stop adoption service over same-sex law”

http://www.catholic.org/national/national_story.php?id=19017

But it’s not only MA:

“Same-sex ‘marriage’ law forces D.C. Catholic Charities to close adoption program”

http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/same-sex_marriage_law_forces_d.c._catholic_charities_to_close_adoption_program/

“Illinois Catholic Charities vows to resist same-sex adoptions”

So it’s down to too Republicans, and I heard that they are McDonald and Little. I’m really surprised about Betty Little, especially since she is pro-life.

Anyway, if you have family and friends in this district, ask them to call these two senators.

Thank you Hush44 for contacting McDonald.

The issue of marriage and gay rights in general is unlike any recent issue.

To those who support it, EVEN those who are pretty logical in their overall political thinking, THERE IS NOTHING THE GAYS CAN DO THAT IS WRONG!

A straight friend, someone you have counted on to be loyal and true for years, if he hears you disagree with any aspect of gay culture or ways, will call you a bigot, just as soon as a gay activist will.

How did this happen? That heterosexuals who support gay rights, are starting to hate other heterosexuals who are not on board? I am NOT exaggerating.

If State Senators Padavan and Maltese (Republicans) had won reelection, they would have voted against this bill. Also, George Onorato, a conservative Democrat, would have voted against it. All three were replaced by socially liberal pro abortion, pro gay marriage DEMOS. Skelos should not allow this to come up for a vote.

Next on the agenda: legalizing abortion through all nine months of pregnancy - Andrew Cuomo needs to be denounced from the pulpit and excommunicated.

From my email from Tony Perkins of FRCaction.org:

“Contact your state senator and other senators in the state as well and let them know people have a right to live as they choose but they do not have a right to redefine marriage.
snip
These senators are seen as “on the fence” on the issue of if marriage is between one man and one woman:

Greg Ball (40, Putnam County) (518) 455-3111
Joe Griffo (47, Utica) (518) 455-3334
Mark Grisanti (60, Buffalo, Grand Island, Niagara Falls) (518) 455-3240
Andrew Lanza (24, Staten Island) (518) 455-3215
Betty Little (45, North Country stretching from Plattsburgh to Glens Falls) (518) 455-2811
Jack Martins (7, Nassau County/Garden City) 518-455-3265”

However, I heard prolife, Betty Little will vote No!
