Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain told Hotsheet Wednesday that homosexuality is a sin and a choice.
"I believe homosexuality is a sin because I'm a Bible-believing Christian, I believe it's a sin," he said. "But I know that some people make that choice. That's their choice."
Cain was asked: "So you believe it's a choice?"
"I believe it is a choice," he responded.

Well I support him but on the “choice” remark...that’s gonna hurt him.
3 days from now, it won’t matter. In the meantime, it will cause some plusses and some minuses. The key is he does not see the government playing a role in these decisions, which is all that matters.
I don’t think the homosexuals were gonna vote for Cain anyway. They’re racists, you know.
At the margin, it helps in the primaries, hurts in the general.
My gut says it would hurt, but as I think about it I don’t know if it will make a difference. People are already pretty much entrenched in these positions and I don’t konw that this changes any minds. I mean, did you think a liberal was going to vote for him anyway?
He wasn’t gonna get a large homo vote anyway.
It will help his chances. Especially in the black community. If you ever want to find out the highest level of hatred for the gays, just get a couple of black guys started on the topic. That community is rabidly anti gay and anti gay marriage. Always surprises me considering how much they vote Rat.
It doesn’t hurt him with me :-)
Cue up the screaming libs.
Well, maybe, but that will be our cue as to how serious they are taking HC.
Who cares? The queers may be 1.5% of the population.....
OTOH, among the 40% or so of us who really, really are fed up to gills with the pink mafia trying to redefine society for the other 97% or so of us who understand the difference between an exit and an entrance orifice, hearing the truth out of a candidate for public office is refreshing.
Maybe, maybe not.
... oh
"I believe it is a choice," he responded.
If it was genetic, it would have been bred out millions of years ago, since they don't procreate.
RE: My gut says it would hurt
My guts say it will hurt ONLY IN VERY BLUE STATES. It will help IN VERY RED STATES. Purple states will not care one way or the other.
In the very blue state of NY ( especially the city for instance ), Carl Paladino (who was running for NY State Governor ) actually publicly stated that :
1) He is against marriage ( in a speech to an Orthodox Jewish Community )
2) He disapproves of Andrew Cuomo bringing his young daughters to a Gay Pride Parade.
He was loudly excoriated by the NY press for that. See here:

Needless to say, the press kept hammering this issue until he lost momentum. You know the result.
Errrr, what? As a behaviour, sex is a choice. At any time I could choose to have sex with a goat, the living room sofa, a tuna fish sandwich or an Edsel.
He's not going to lose anyone that would have voted for him anyways. :-)
It will give the media more ammo but guess what, they weren’t exactly planning on supporting him anyway.
Hurt or not, the truth will set you free.
