The Bible states people have free will,

Cite?

"Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave to sin. - Jesus Christ (Jn 8:34)
"Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts." - St Paul (Rom 6:12-13)

To say one has free will is to call Jesus Christ a liar, and to categorically reject Romans 6-7.

There is evil because the carnal man loves his sin and only desires to engage in even more sin (Romans 1)

I assume you are not Catholic as it is part of our religion teachings. The Protestants movement under Luther and Calvin rejected the Catholic church and the original teachings on free will.

“I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live, by loving the LORD, your God, heeding his voice, and holding fast to him.” Deuteronomy 30:19-20

Not only is each individual free to choose, he is obliged to choose.

“Because I called and you refused, I extended my hand and no one took notice” Proverbs 1:24

Yes, God calls us but we can refuse. He invites us but does not compel us.
