I can totally picture Nimh (great name, btw!) laughing his kitty head off at that situation. He’s got that look.

We usually end up having to throw half-dead mice out in the yard to expire. Then we praise the kitties to no end in the hopes it will motivate them to continue improving!

Well your kitties ARE catching them. I don't know about eating them as there are *ahem* "inner portions" that Nimh leaves on the hardwood floor because he won't eat them. Blech! I think I'd rather pick up a whole one to dispose of.

Chipmunks on the other hand taste bad so not even the feral cats outside will eat them. They catch them, play with them for awhile and let them go. That's really hard on the tulips.

We usually end up having to throw half-dead mice out in the yard to expire.

Mice, whether half dead or all dead have a special reserved place at our house. We have this special underground swimming pool whose secret entrance is via a small above-ground pool contained in a circular/ovate white porcelain device. The mouse is introduced into the above ground pool. Next, the secret pool transportation device is activated and the mouse swirls around for a bit before sliding out of sight into the special passageway that leads to the underground swimming pool. Not a single one of them has ever complained about the facilities. ;-)
