The Iranian women's soccer team was in tears after being forced to forfeit a 2012 London Olympics qualifying match this past weekend because it showed up to play in hajibs. FIFA banned the Islamic head scarf in 2007, saying that it could cause choking injuries -- the same reason it gave for recently banning snoods (neck warmers). FIFA also has strict rules against any religious statements in team uniforms.

allowing it, is akin to letting ONE religion pray in schools, and no others.

My daughter played high school volleyball against Dearborn High School. The Muslim players wore sweatsuits with volleyball jerseys over the sweatsuit and a hajib.
Bridget said she always tried to hit the ball in the direction of one of the Muslim girls because they were more concerned about keeping the hajib on than returning the ball.
Were you watching tv the summer of 2008 when mayhem and armageddon was being perpetuated in the streets of Iran?!! Allmost...those woman are not trapped. It isn’t Islamic Law to wear the scarf or the habjab. They brought this on themsleves knowing full well this would be an issue. I would bet money the Muslim community will now take this to court....which is why they have the woman wear these to begin with.
